FAQs about hotels in Glasgow

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

good bars and restaurant diversity was very good.

good bars and restaurant diversity was very good. However Glasgow prices are very expensive, both drink and food. I thought Ireland was bad however Scotland is quite more expensive for simple vacationing.

The locals are really friendly and all too willing to help visitors - you are treated as a guest rather than a visitor! There is plenty to do and see in the city and any of the locals will give you the benefit of local knowledge in this regard if you ask. Glasgow is an excellent base from which to explore further afield by bus, train or taxi. There are excellent restaurants/ cafes to suit all budgets and the pubs - most of them! - are a great way to spend an evening or an afternoon during your stay. There is always something going on in the city so make sure to check "What's on" during the period that you are staying as you may find something that makes your visit that wee bit more special!

    Nice city with great people.

Nice city with great people. You can find lots of interesting places just walking around the city. From slick new buildings to old Cathedrals. You can visit the Necropolis and the Great Stephan cathedral. You have to go to Riverside museum, the Botanica Gardens, Kelvingroove Art Gallery and Museum. Plus lots more.

I loved the museums and galleries.

I loved the museums and galleries. There's a really good energy in Glasgow. My one complaint is that I use public transit and the buses did not have an electronic board which displayed the stops as they came up, and the bus drivers seemed surprised to be asked to call out the requested stop.

Enjoyed the People's Palace, Riverside Museum, City Siteseeing hop on/off bus, Clydeside Distillery, City Music Walking tour. And concerts at Celtic Connections. Plenty of places to eat, but reservations needed on Friday and Saturday. Bus stop is very close where you can catch a bus into the city centre (only 30 in walk) and also the hop on hop off city tour bus stops at the same bus stop.

We had a great time, we came for a specific event so definitely enjoyed that but I would say my lasting impression was more about the visiting we did around the city. Glasgow is a great place and people are generally very friendly, we had excellent service in all shops and restaurants we visited. Ironically the only person we found a bit rude/unhelpful was a male staff member at the train station, the one place you would expect people to be most helpful with directions for travellers!

The hotel was walkable distance to the city centre and a variety of restaurants. Kevingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Park and the University of Glasgow. The room was not like the pictures on the profile but it still look good and clean. The room was spacious, had sufficient storage for a short stay, clean and spacious bathroom with good hot water flow. The guest house is generally clean. The reception was in the building across and the host was really friendly. There is a lot of parking around the area and it is free between 6pm to 8am.

Our apartment was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed for a one week stay. Location is great, right in the city centre. 10 minute walk to Glasgow Central station or the West End. No car park but there is on street parking or a Q-park 2 minutes away. Plenty of shops within walking distance. Housekeeper was lovely, you do need to book your clean but they were more than accommodating. Overall, great value for money compared to neighbouring hotels.

Amazing location (affordable Duke St car park near by and close to train/subway station), great for walking into the city centre or in our case, the Barrows. Staff was more than friendly and my partner and I enjoyed the free welcome drink. The room was perfectly clean and got cleaned and re-stocked with towels for the second night we stayed (not all hotels do that). Nice shower room and comfy bed, room did not feel too small either.

The way that Clayton hotels had adapted and repurposed a heritage listed building and the linkage between the older and newer parts. Its location was also a selling point overlooking the Clyde and close to the City Centre facilities and Glasgow Central station. Breakfast was well worth it, well prepared with a good selection. The room was broadly good with everything we needed (but see below), good to have an iron, kettle etc.

The property was clean and comfortable and in a good location for visiting various parts of Glasgow. The bus into Glasgow city Centre was close by (2 minute walk)if you turned right as you came out of the house and walked up to the dual carriage way , cross over the other side of the road to catch the 267 bus towards the city Centre.

Hotel reception is inviting, very clean and modern. Big open space to do any meetings or work within the reception area which is great!
