Hartland Quay Hotel is wonderful. Donal and Sarah are exceptional host and their team of staff are also first class. My room was bright and had a great view. Breakfast was well cooked with a good selection from the cold buffet. I chose to eat my evening meal in the bar. Food was freshly cooked to order and very tasty. Good selection of drinks are also on offer.. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and intend to go back later in the year. Hartland is a hidden treasure.
We were only there a night but what we seen was a lovely little village, 3 pubs, couple of shops and lovely little houses, everyone was so nice and helpful with directions or where you can eat or get a bit of shopping. Would liked to of stayed longer.
Hartland is a very nice part of the world, great walks nice pebble beaches and some lovely little pubs, the roads leading up to the coast are often quite narrow single track with passing places so go steady
The location is fantastic both for hiking and also doing some esay-going exercising like going for runs along the beautiful coast. The view is stunning, the hotel a great place to stay and the hosts there wonderful people to meet.
Clovelly is always a fabulous place to visit 4 miles away, Hartland key 3 miles away is ruggedly beautiful but Hartland lighthouse seemed like a long trek down very narrow winding roads through the woods for about 8 miles before emerging into the rocky outpost and wild seas ! The village itself (Hartland ) is like a throwback in time - after 9pm it's so quiet with only the sound of the church brass band wafting down the streets to break the silence !
Very picturesque and unspoiled area of N Devon. We visited in off peak season when many of the attractions are shut but there was still plenty to do. We visited Hartland Quay - spectacular and bracing in the aftermath of the February storms, Hartland point, Clovelly (very picturesque but expensive), Bude, Bideford & Appledore and Westward Ho! (our least favourite place). Had a superb meal at the Farmer's Arms in Woolfardisworthy and a decent Chinese takeaway from the Wayside in Kilkhampton. Pleaty of things left to see and do to draw us back in the future. No light pollution near where we were staying (Edistone Barn) means the night skies are amazing
