The location is just fabulous. On the river Thames. Looking out from the breakfast room at the river and the rowing boats as they glide by. The evening meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. The breakfast excellent. The sheep with their lambs in the fields as you drive up to the hotel are just enchanting.

Nestled in the Chiltern Hills, just north of the River Thames as it winds through Buckinghamshire, The Stag and Huntsman is located in the picturesque village of Hambleden. The location, accommodations, restaurant, and staff were amazing. We were a family with small children and had never visited this area before. The small village is so picturesque that often films are shot at this location. The owners, staff, food, and mascot (Griffindor the dog) made us wish we stayed more than just the one night. We stayed in the cottage was was a house complete with set kitchen table, toiletries in the bathroom, and working fireplace.

Great atmosphere. Good riverside walks. Boat trips. Lovely restaurants for lunch and or dinner.Easy access to other towns, NT properties and places of interest. Easy driving and traffic flow good through main part of town.
It's a beautiful place with one of the most amazing River Thames Side for walking, running, cycling. A lot of pubs and good restaurants, the Polo Clubs, etc, etc, etc. I've been in UK a lot of time and one of my favourite place is Henley on Thames.
Henley is fabulous. There is a lot going on and it has a lively buzz. The river setting is gorgeous and there are lots of restaurants, cafes and pubs to suit all budgets. We went on a river cruise which was great fun.
Henley has a lot of tourists, and some parking that costs quite a lot of money. It is not apparent that there is anything special to see in the town, other than the riverside. It is a quiet commercial, residential town, set on a pretty steep incline for those who intend to adventure further, but don't enjoy climbs. It's prettier on the other side of the river than immediately around the town; i.e greener over there. the best aspect of the town is the great train service and station in the centre that allows you to explore elsewhere than the dull town
Had a lovely three day break in Henley our accommodation was excellent so central for the shops bars and the river walks. Henley is so central to visit Oxford, Windsor, and London. All under an hour by train. G W Trains Run a great service from Henley.
We liked that everything was close by. Walking distance to thames, bars, restaurants, shops all close. Although parking is a nightmare. It took us half an hour of driving around until we could park. Once parked dont move your car .
Henley on Thames
We visited here with our 3year old grand daughter as we were visiting Legoland. Its not really a place for young children but we were never made to feel this way that is just us overthinking as my grand daughter is quite loud and always asking questions at the wrong time. Breakfast was beautiful. Rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel. Its near the centre of Henley-on-Thames so plenty of places to eat or there is a waitrose 5 minutes away. Only 30minutes away from Legoland
Henley on Thames
Friendly staff and it started off well, beautiful place all though very tight roads to get in, it then went downhill with a 5am fire alarm and unable to get out of the building we are contacting the hotel to discuss this with the manager who handle it badly, we were left frightened and unsure of what to do, although the manager concerned will contradicted this review, there were major problems with escaping the building luckily there was no fire, but if it had of been I hate to think what would have happened.
Situated on the bank of the Thames in Henley, the Leander is an excellent place to stay, eat or drink. The staff are efficient and friendly. They have just opened an outside bar and a large raised decking area right on and overlooking the river. Lots of sensible Covid measures in place to keep both staff and customers safe. Huge car park providing free parking for residents and guests. Highly recommended.
Henley on Thames
Lovely little cottage in a brilliant location. Quiet spot despite being so close to town centre. Very well equipped kitchen. Double room really comfy. Not the weather for outdoors, but the backyard was really sweet. I often visit Henley and the hotel options are so limited, if you don’t want to pay £££ It was a really good alternative!
Can't fault any part of the hotel facilities or staff, beautiful place to stay. It was my partners birthday and I had organised for flowers and they were in he room together with a lovely card from the staff. She was made to feel very special.
It's a pub you can sleep in. Need I say more? Down for 1 night only in Marlow, drove to Henley and thought we'll stay another night. Happened to be sitting opposite The Catherine Wheel. Cheap room impulsive extra night stay.
The hotel is beautiful - a sensitively restored former brewery. I loved the many different areas - bar, snug, restaurant, courtyard. The room was well appointed, with large bathroom and comfortable bed. The bartender was brilliant
Henley on Thames
This place was different from anywhere else we stayed. The beds were comfortable. The windows opened for fresh air, yet it was quiet. It was convenient to walk to town centre and the river. Staff was friendly and helpful.
