A lovely Birthday weekend in Hope Cove.
We ate out both nights in the village. The first night we had booked at the Cove, nice and cosy. I have to follow a gluten free diet and they offer pizzas at an extra cost, but not home made bases, which I understand due to the size of the place and probably demand, as they have a busy little kitchen. I had a Hawaiian burger, with the extra cost of £1.50 for the gf bun.The clientele while we were there, included families that just want a drink while they all sat and played on their mobile phones, couples of all ages, a large family gathering of 4 generations, a couple of mature ladies and a couple with their dog, as this is a dog friendly place too.
The second night, we ate at the Hope and Anchor, upstairs with super views over the bay. I ordered the whole cracked crab. Thankfully we hadn't dressed up too much, as I then spent a good hour or so wrestling with it and removing all the crab meat and we are talking a whopper here, my picture doesn't do it justice, but it took up all of a very large oval dinner plate. I ate what I could and Oonah the very helpful waitress took the rest and kept it in their fridge overnight and we collected it the next day and enjoyed eating it in the lovely surroundings of Paignton Zoo. When we next visit Hope Cove, we will most definitely return here to eat. Oonah (forgive if I have spelt it wrong) made absolutely certain as to what I could and couldn't order.
