The design of the architecture is modernized- two modern spacious lifts are available; no more need to lift stuff up the scale. Rooms are new, spacious, warm, and just perfect. location is great. Shops, especially those you would frequent need, are next door. Situated in the heart of the city center, you will need a minute of walking. Staff are always smiling and helpful. There is a safety strategy outside. Cards are used for all purposes. This hotel is one of the perfect ones I’ve seen in my entire life.

Lovely spacious rooms. The pool is great and the staff are really friendly although I feel it should have been re-tiled it's now like lino and it's lifting up already and looks badly finished off around the edges. Love that dogs are welcome.

Our comfortable accommodation was in an ideal location, just 10 mins walk from the city centre and beautiful sights of Lancaster - we visited the prison and castle and thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour (inexpensive) - would recommend this - there was also a 'Choclatiere' in the grounds, the choclates we bought were so refined and tasted delectable. We also visited the cathedral (free to enter), what a beautiful building with spectactular architecture inside and out. There are a couple of museums, well worth a visit - and while we were there, there was a food festival held on Sunday 10th August, we bought some of the fresh bakes and some cultural foods - we couldn't compliment them enough - so many food aromas, feel hungry now thinking about what we didn't get to taste. We visited Friday to Sunday but could have stayed an extra night or two as there are lots of places to shop and restaurants to eat in, not forgetting the delicious food, the many pubs have to offer. Would definitely visit again.

Lancaster has an exciting and welcoming feel with the bus station so well planned with really helpful staff who are there to guide and keep you right as you travel from Lancaster. The Duke's Theatre was my base where you could sit and plan your day over tea, cake, coffee. It hosts a cinema showing alternative films each day and I noticed an open air cinema at Williamson Park for those seeking al fresco summer events. I found a great pub 'Pendel Witch' serving a variety of Beers and Ales and a substanial evening meal at a reasonable cost. I look forward very much to returning to a chaming city with a thriving high street inviting the solo traveller like myself seeking a change from a particular everyday routine and working life.

The Castle is worth a look as the police museum is free but only open on Thursday and Friday. The Castle tour is £9. Excellent coffee and amazing pastries at Tuck on Westbourne Road!! Great pub food at the Bier & Twist . Some lovely shops and boutiques.

Lancaster is a compact, lively city.

Lancaster is a compact, lively city. The canal is a great asset providing lovely walks in quiet surroundings. The castle is very impressive and the guided tour is a must and well worth the £9 charge. (Ask for Jack!) Good cafe there too and the Police Museum (free) is fascinating. The Judges Lodging House is also well worth a visit and includes a museum of childhood on the top floor. The Maritime Museum has very interesting exhibits about the industrial history of the city. There is a good variety of shops and eating establishments in the town and street market stalls on certain days. We took a lovely train ride to Ulverston for a very reasonable price. The train runs all along the coastline of Morecombe Bay affording great views. Ulverston is a charming place to visit with a good permanent indoor market. And do not miss the Laurel and Hardy Museum. Ulverston is Stan Laurel's home town. On the way back we hopped off the train at the pretty Grange-over-Sands and had a meal in Fish-over-Chips. Excellent! Carnforth station is of course well worth a visit especially if you're a fan of Brief Encounter.

The room was very comfortable, especially the bed. The house was very clean and inviting. There was also the option of the bathtub. Fran was very nice in communication, and was also flexible with the check-in when I asked. The check-in itself is done with a key safe, which is great for odd times and you don't have to bother anyone. If you need to be close to the university it's a great area, though the city centre isn't too far from the accommodation either. Overall good stay for the money. Would recommend.

The hotel is a basic budget hotel (it started out as a Travelodge) in the centre of Lancaster. Reliable hotel accommodation in Lancaster isn't hugely available at this budget end, so this is a good value-for money choice. It's basic but clean & comfortable. Great shower & hot water, very comfortable bed with cotton bed linen. Absolutely reliable, but no frills.
