From the town centre shops, follow River Road and head for the Look and Sea Centre for great views of the river from its cafe or from its viewing tower. Walk along the river embankment towards the sea, then along the seafront promenade with the world's longest bench, a family friendly pebble beach and a large greensward behind, ideal for picnics.
Littlehampton Museum, adjoining the town council offices in the town centre, is free and worth a visit, with well mounted displays about the history of the town.
For a good range of independent shops and national chains, head east to nearby Rustington (free parking or frequent bus links), with its own charming museum in a thatched cottage opposite the parish church.
Back in Littlehampton, cross the river to West Beach and enjoy a walk on this unspoilt stretch of beach backed by sand dunes, a local nature reserve.
