Sitting in the shadows of Ely Cathedral, Lamb Hotel dates back to the 15th century and retains its atmosphere as a thriving coaching inn. The Lamb boasts 31 comfortable en-suite rooms. It’s hard to pick just one thing about the Lamb since everything was first rate - service, room, restaurant & pub, location. We had a dog and everyone went out of their way to assist us with him. The location is literally next to the Cathedral, on the main shopping street and only a few minutes from the river as well as the train station. If I ever get back to Ely, this is where I will definitely stay.
A quiet location with a handy railway station on the doorstep. A river with boats and swans to see. A pleasant walk along the river bank. A perfect retreat from city life. The Lamb & Flag pub, short drive away, is a fabulous place to eat.
I visited Cambridge twice using the Milton park and ride and found it easy and convenient I also drove to Denver Sluice and checked out the really scenic waterways, angling is readily available so there was plenty to choose from. Ely is also attractive with it's cathedral and it's riverside and plenty of dining choices. The Codfather fish and chip shop in Littleport was good quality and value for money.
We stayed in Littleeport though our visit was to Ely just up the road. The cathedral was worth a visit, as was the antique centre. We dined at the Sylhet restaurant on Market St, the food was excellent.
