Facing the beachfront in Lochgilphead, Kilmory House has a shared lounge and a garden. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. It was clean and comfortable, decorated to a high standard. The owners are friendly, helpful people who make you feel completely at home from the minute you arrive. It is located a few minutes walk from the main centre of Lochgilphead and has a small supermarket across the road.
Situated in Lochgilphead in the Argyll and Bute region, Shepherd's Cottage features a garden. Plenty space for 3 of us. Cosy living room with a log fire. Nice modern kitchen. Beautiful, quiet location. Had a lovely few days staying here. Excellent communication from host.
The cottage sits on the banks of the Crinan Canal with a south-facing garden directly overlooking the canal along which numerous yachts pass by. A cosy cottage, good central heating and an open fire if required. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the kitchen very well equipped. Excellent WiFi.
Crinan Canal Cottage No8 sits on the banks of the Crinan Canal with a south-facing garden directly overlooking the canal along which numerous yachts pass by. Exceptional place to stay. Host so warm, and welcoming and communication just fabulous. So clean, tidy, fantastic fire, bedding fresh and wonderful views. Really impressed and I've already got another stay booked in. Recommended this cottage to many.
Friendly people, a good base to explore the surrounding area. Parking was generally easy and plenty of places to eat, especially the Smithy Bistro for lunch. The cairnbaan hotel(2miles away in Cairnbaan) served excellent and varied food, as well as good local beer and a friendly welcome.
Ideal base for visiting mid Arygyll and the Kintyre/ Knapdale peninsulas. Kilmartin Glen ,the Crinan Canal, the start/finish of the Kintyre Way at Tarbert. Excellent bus connections to many places, by West Coast Motors and Citylink. A Co-op and a petrol station Tesco open early until 10pm. Nice combined Chiinse/Indian restaurant/takeaway. The Argyll Cafe also does nice snacks/,lunches/,dinners/ takeaways until 20.30 weekdays.
An area under regeneration, but you can feel the authenticity of the area and with such historical treasures to visit, I urge all you patriots and visitors touring Scotland to pay a visit to this place. There are many talented artists - so get in early for next years Art Trail. Honestly, don’t just pass on your way to other destinations...stop off, watch the sunset and visit Dunadd Fort...you will feel like you are on top of the world.
This is the main town in Argyll. It has limited shops but all are unique. The town gives access to the historic Crinan Canal with quaint picturesque vistas along the canal and especially at Crinan. It gives access to ancient burial sites , the ancient fort at Dunaad and the stone circles at Kilmartin - all within 4 or 5 miles. Tarbert, a busy fishing harbour, Taviallich an attractive west coast yacht anchorage and Inverrary , an historic town, are all within 10 miles. En route to Tayviallich is the nature reserve with beavers and the ecology they have created. At Crinan the views over to Jura and Scarba to the tidal race of Corryvrekan are wonderful.
We loved the accommodation and the hosts booked a table for us at a local restaurant which was just right after a days driving. We only stayed for one night in Lochgilphead so will need to return to explore the area more thoroughly.
Great scenery and historic sites. Quiet environment and we had great weather. Great bluebells at this time of year. Fascinating area with a lot to offer. Will return. Nothing we found disappointing.
A cosy cottage, good central heating and an open fire if required. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the kitchen very well equipped. Excellent WiFi.
