I knew Ludlow from previous visits when my daughter and her partner lived in an Art Studio in Pepper Lane. It was my partners first visit and he loved it. People in Ludlow were friendly and helpful. A lovely small historic town in the Shropshire countryside, a good base for touring with a few attractions in the town itself. It's quite hilly in places. Plenty of restaurants and cafes. We ate at sourCed pizza and would highly recommend it for good food and friendly, attentive staff. Local produce and they don't add a service charge because, as they say, you should only tip if you appreciate the service. Refreshing. The town centre is lively and vibrant during the day, with an excellent market and plenty of shops. There are lots of good cafes, pubs and restaurants, though check times of evening food service as they can finish a bit earlier than in some places. The main attraction of Ludlow for us are the Georgian houses, Tudor shop fronts and ancient cottages so we spent quite a lot of time wandering around the streets, admiring them. Historic border town with links between England and Wales.
Historic border town with links between England and Wales. Castle overlooking River Teme where there are easy walks and facilities. Town market is on most days selling crafts. Good for souvenirs and gifts. Lots of shopping in medieval streets around square. Church worth a visit and also has a good cafe. Very scenic countryside and close to beautiful Wye Valley route. Long Mynd range of spectacular hills close by at Church Stretton - National Trust car park. Good for climbing and picnics. Room 7 was worth every penny. Worth much more than we paid. If we were visiting Strewsbury, we would stay here in Ludlow, overnight. When we arrived, there was a lovely lady outside the entrance.
