Set in 270 acres of Cheshire parkland, the Georgian country house Mottram Hall features a spa, leisure facilities and 2 restaurants. Everything else was faultless. Super comfortable, very quiet, exquisite food clearly made with quality ingredients.
The Bridge is a newly refurbished 24 bedroom property in the picturesque village of Prestbury, located on the bank of the River Bollin. The hotel was great - with very friendly staff, great breakfast and comfortable bed. The check in process and responses to emails were quick and easy as well. We stayed in the un-renovated rooms which were perfectly comfortable BUT the renovated rooms are a significant step up in.
Crown Mews is set in Macclesfield, 5 mi from Adlington Hall and 5.6 mi from Congleton Park, in an area where hiking can be enjoyed. The property was very clean and modern. It was roomy with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a large kitchen/lounge area. Everything was comfortable and the facilities were amazing. Such a great value stay for such a cheap price.
The Little St Apartment is located in Macclesfield, 5 miles from Adlington Hall and 5 miles from Congleton Park, in an area where hiking can be enjoyed. We appreciated the friendly communication with the host, and enjoyed the coffee, biscuits and milk etc. that were left for us.
The comfort and facilities were lovely, although the bed was a little hard. My overall experience was good and the breakfast was excellent. The only niggle I had was that my room was directly above a wedding event and the window would not close properly. This resulted in me being able to hear the music and people outside which was annoying at first when trying to sleep. Once the wedding was finished it was nice and quiet. The location was beautiful and the staff were lovely. I would use this hotel again.
To be fair the hotel is good,it is comfortable and clean, super breakfast with kids eating free.We had a few problems to start with the booking of the room but staff helped to resolve this.Overall a good stay and we have booked again in April.
We visited for a particular event so saw very little of the town. We were impressed by the helpfulness of the local people. Travelling by public transport, we needed to find our way from the railway station to the bus station, and were guided there by a friendly young man and his guide dog. On the bus, both the driver and a passenger made sure we got off at the right stop. The staff at the hotel were excellent. Overall the impression is of a very friendly town. Near the hotel we walked along a cycletrack along the old canal route. We were told about it by the hotel staff when we said we wanted a brisk country walk after a long train journey.
If you want to experience the traditional English country side life, this is the best place. The narrow country lane leading to the farm is very thrill and after entering the gate, there were at least 20 cows near or on the road, almost like they were there welcoming you and it was fun to negotiate to pass them. Before entering the reception, a beautiful three years old horse run toward us and she is very friendly. Our host is excellent and show us the farm and animals (sheep, cows, horses, dog and cat). The B&B is very traditional but the facility is very modern. The sitting room is very comfortable and relaxing. The breakfast is excellent with many local produces. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will come back.
Macclesfield is surprisisingly varied with more to interest than at first perceived. I particularly liked The Red Willow Pub which brews it's own beers and also has guest beers. Katherine the manager was a mine of information about the business and the locality. Across the way is a Wetherspoons established in what was known as The Society Rooms. There are also a number of interesting shops around as well.
Pleasant town centre. Interesting buildings/museums. Great parks and good walking along the canal and into the country. Plenty of good places to eat. Manageable without a car - good buses to Leek and Buxton for example.
