On the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, The White Swan dates back to the 1800s and is set on the A46 between Grimsby and Lincoln. We stayed at the Swan to go to Market Rasen races, check in was easy, allowed to pop cases in room, breakfast was lovely and the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfy. We’ve stayed before this visit and will stay again!
Less than 5 minutes’ drive from Market Rasen Racecourse, the 18th-century Advocate Arms is a 5-star restaurant with rooms, which serves local produce on its menu. Always friendly and always helpful good food and beers highly recommended you give this nice place a try...
Horizon Barn is located in Market Rasen and offers a garden and barbecue facilities. The property is 15 miles from Grimsby. Loved Horizon Barn. Bucolic setting, with an idyllic view from both the living area and the bedroom. We were there for two nights and the owl came swooping by to visit on both of them. As for the bathtub… neither of us have ever bathed in such magnificent surroundings with so glorious a view, and yet it was totally private. It’s perfect for two people and we left feeling absolutely and totally relaxed. Nice private outside space too, leading into huge rolling fields. Irene, who runs the place and the bed and breakfast nearby is a delight.
Masondale Holiday Cottage is located in Market Rasen and offers a garden, a tennis court and barbecue facilities. This vacation home has a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Fantastic location with spectacular views over the rolling countryside. Made good use of the hot tub whilst we were there. Property very well equipped with everything you need
The only thing we really liked about Market Rasen was The Advocate Arms. Very few eateries, an assortment of independent shops all situated on a very busy main road. Amazing amount of large agricultural vehicles and lorries speeding along a narrow main road. The town looks tired.
Market Rasen was a nice little village to stay in with different things around the Area for you to do from hiking to cycling there is a horse racing track there as well and Caldwell park is 15 mins away if you are into motorsports there are plenty amenities take aways shopping coffee shops and a market on every Saturday .
I don't want to be unfair about the town as it was in a great location for visiting the Wolds and we chose to stay in the Advocate, regardless of where it was really, because we liked the look and sound of it and its restaurant. It doesn't help, I'm sure, that the racing has been cancelled this year due to Covid but the high street looked really run down, with quite a few businesses closed and many of the shop fronts and parts of the street really quite dirty. There are a few newer businesses which are obviously really trying to make an effort to attract customers but overall, the town itself seemed to have little to offer- surprising as it has the race course, we expected more.
We were staying in Market Rasen as we were attending a family funeral. It’s not the prettiest of market towns but set in some lovey countryside. Visited the gardens at Goltho, which are definitely worth a visit.
It was ok, nothing special, would stay elsewhere when I go back, mattress was comfy, chef works bloody hard, breakfast hot and tasty nice for the choice all cooked fresh, lack of staff or management doesn’t help, cleaners have far too many cigarette breaks, when said to them about hot water precious night she said I ain’t a plumber I don’t know. Nice to be offered drinks or food to compensate but as said before that was no good as mum had paid for meals out for the day, after being out all day (13 hours) last thing I wanted was a drink in the noisy bar with the live band, was so noisy didn’t sleep till after midnight, Still money was taken straight away as checked in so they got my hard earned cash.
Market Rasen is a nice little town, however there are only 2 restaurants open in the evening on a Saturday night. These are a Tapas restaurant and an Indian. For simple English food go to the Nags head in Middle Rasen, just a short taxi ride away
Spacious, very well appointed accommodation. Easy car access and parking. Great location for exploring the Lincolnshire wold, Lincoln city and other attractions including the coast. Market Rasen has all essential facilities, including cafes and dining within easy walking distance as well as walks from the doorstep along the well marked Lincolnshire footpaths. Highly recommended!
Pleasant enough stay...the Hotel was clean & welcoming. Staff were helpful, popular locals bar with reasonable prices & decent food. Breakfast was although limited options was nonetheless very good. Just a pity about the town.
Good communication by Host before arrival. Personal and attentive greeting at the door. Spotlessly clean room in portion of Host's home. Ridiculously cheap accommodation, perfect for a night or two.
Really lovely hotel and excellent service. I grew up in Market Rasen and we were visiting for a family birthday party. We will definitely be booking again for when we next visit
The location of the hotel is perfect for anyone wanting a nice quiet stay.
Central Market Rasen- great spot.
