Set in beautiful landscaped gardens just 15 minutes' walk from Melton Mowbray town centre, this 100-year old house is next to the River Eye, with free fishing for guests. WOW..from arrival to leaving we all had an exceptional time at Sysonby Knoll. We travelled over from the US to meet up with family in an easy location for us all. On arrival we were welcomed by Pete and he put everything in place for our stay, nothing was to much trouble. our rooms were amazing and the food fantastic. The restaurant team went above and beyond to serve our family the grandchildren all under 8 years loved the fuss given towards them. We could even have our family dog visit so we could catch up with him for cuddles too. The location of the gardens and easy walk into Melton Mowbray are excellent. We will most certainly be returning in the future

Situated in Melton Mowbray in the Leicestershire region, The Old Sweet Shop, Melton Mowbray is a 4-star property boasting free WiFi. The accommodation is 38 km from Corby. We loved our stay here. We used it a our accommodation this weekend for our wedding. It worked so well as we married on Friday at Melton registry office and were looking forward to celebrating with everyone on the Saturday. Unfortunately the Sat did not go ahead but having the cottage meant that we could still have our close family and friends with us to celebrate. We are postponing the party until this time next year so definately looking to rebook for then!! I would definitely recommend! We only live 40 mins away but it felt like a little holiday. ❤️
Melton Mowbray is a lovely little market town - there are many independent restaurants, cafes and bars, catering for all tastes. There are also independent, boutique shops and the new Makers’ Market on Saturdays, as well as the traditional produce market in the centre. Obviously, Pork Pies and Stilton feature widely both in shops and on stalls! Historically, Melton Mowbray is interesting and sits in a picturesque area of Leicestershire, also not far from Rutland - the smallest county.
An historic town with useful information boards and plaques. A pleasant walking experience. It would have been more interesting if we had known the days the impressive church was open, and also the days for the cattle market and farmers' market. It was a pity we missed that. It is not easy to find a restaurant on a Sunday evening (our hotel did not have a restaurant open). There was an Indian restaurant opposite that was open, and the food was good though the service was slow.
Grounds Views Peace able to sit and pray Quiet setting Warm and friendly staff Value for money Local craft/drinks etc stalls, antique cars and dance first Sunday of the month. :-) Ate at Kettlby pub in Melton Mowbray. Oakham the other direction. Walking, cycling area. Bus route on main road other than on a Sunday.
I go to Melton because I have to. Not because of work….but because of family I married in to. I’m sure there’s much that can entice you…the place just does nothing for me. Hoping that will change soon… but yeah; not holding my breath. Let me know if discover anywhere/anything that might fill me with excitement!
Very easy to find your way around. Good pubs especially 14th Century Anne of Cleves and plenty of places to eat. The locals were really friendly. St. Mary's Church is a must to visit, but please note it closes at 2pm as the volunteers finish at this time. The is parking around the town centre, £1.50 for up to 3 hours, but on Market Day which is a Tuesday, the local council bump the cost up to £3.00. We spent at least 20 mins trying to pay the usual rate before someone else in the car park told us. Apart from that we really enjoyed our time there.
A lovely market town with a good range of pubs and restaurants. Lots of independent shops as well as the usual high street shops. Everything within a short distance of where we stayed and a beautiful church in the centre.
Melton Mowbray
Absolutely lovely place and Claire couldn't be more helpful. From initial instructions via email to welcoming us and our dog she is brilliant! I would recommend this for anyone who wants to have a relaxing stay in the countryside. The continental breakfast was lovely, as was meeting their beautiful and so energetic puppy Barnie. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, or an overnight stop on your way to London (as we were) I would highly recommend it. A beautiful spacious barn conversion that was so relaxing!
Melton Mowbray
Returning after 28 years, we are now regretting we did not return sooner... A perfect country hotel as much for its style as its location. We were well looked after by a very attentive, efficient and friendly team. A very good dinner and breakfast complemented well the quiet, spacious, tastefully furnished 4-poster bedroom with peaceful countryside views, I chose to celebrate "hubby"'s birthday.
Melton Mowbray
A gorgeous getaway cottage in the idyllic village of Scalford, with Melton Mowbray only being a 5/10 minute drive. The cottage is perfect for couples or small families. Our host Aideen (who lives just out the back) was wonderful. She was so helpful and attentive! The cottage was absolutely spotless and we wish we’d have stayed longer. Thanks so much again Aideen for a fantastic stay!

A very spacious, well appointed cottage with a lovely tea room a a minute's walk away. Ample parking. Secluded with good views of the Rutland countryside. A gorgeous restored windmill is on the site. Nearby Oakham is well worth a visit as is Rutland Water and Barnsdale Gardens.
Melton Mowbray
It definitely felt more like a home than a hotel or B&B. The grounds are beautiful and you could get lost in them, in a good way. The "Lady of the Manor" was very lovely to speak with and made the stay unforgettable. We will definitely stay again in the future.
