Charming town. I recommend visiting the Nairn Museum first. Their volunteers are helpful and have first hand knowledge of the history of the town. I recommend having a car to travel to sites around Nairn that are too far to walk.
Nairn is a very nice town except for the High St which like most in Scotland is suffering at present. However nice to remember the old shops closed now Mackays grocer, Rose Brothers, Gauls toy shop Heards Morgantis to name a few, Nice to see Pat Fraser is still there. Recommend the Classroom at the top of the High Street to eat. Very easy to walk around and nice walks at the river.
I always go to Nairn when I want some peace and quiet and just want to stare out into the sea. I love taking long walks along the beach. The beach itself is divided into two: the first is closer to where the hotels, B&Bs are and the other is on the eastern side, which is much bigger and a little more isolated. It's a very beautiful beach -- white-ish fine sand and very clean. It's very easy to go around Nairn, you can walk around the town -- it is that small. You can take the train or the bus and the beach would just be a few minutes from the station (the bus station is closer to the beach). There is a pubic toilet just a few metres from the beach and, during summer, there are cafes. I have been to Nairn both during summer and autumn and it is beautiful no matter what the season is. The best place to stay is at a hotel or B&B that has a seaview but if they cost too much, anywhere in Nairn is good too. There aren't many attractions here except for the beach -- but that is the reason I always take the long journey from London to Nairn.
My husband and I had only a short 2 night stay in the area but our experience surpassed our expectations and we will certainly go back. The area itself was great with all the amenities close at hand. We found the people we met to be very friendly and the staff in the hotel were so welcoming and chatty. At breakfast we noticed that other guests were also conversing readily with hotel staff and the atmosphere in the dining room was jovial and convivial- everyone joining in! Food was good and nothing was too much trouble. Room was comfortable and large. Would recommend highly and hope to return in the not too distant future.
We know Nairn quite well but were staying with friends who don't know the area. The town is a little run down for shopping but there are lots of restaurants which are good. The beach an harbour areas are lively but great for all ages. Nairn is wishing easy travelling distance of lots of interesting and beautiful places, sites and historic places of interest
Nairn would make a perfect place for young families, or golfers. The splash park is ideal for children and the beach wouldn’t get overcrowded. You can also Dolphin watch from the beach. Plenty of eating places and take away restaurants if you don’t want to cook.
The proper was in a great location, nice to be so close to the beach. Smart and clean rooms, facilities were great. Staff were a little subdued, but this may be down to staff shortages. Whilst a very nice hotel, it was very expensive, poor amendment policy meant we ended up paying more for two nights here than 5 nights at a similarly high stranded hotel elsewhere in Scotland. Wouldn’t recommend booking through booking.com.
Nairn
Our hosts, Terry and Marion, were so gracious and welcoming. They made us feel like family. The room was spacious and the bathroom very spacious. The place was extremely clean. My kids loved their dog Seamus! And Marion's porridge was the best we had in Scotland! I would happily stay there again and hardily recommend the Haylodge to other travelers.
Nairn
Beautiful house on a quiet street within walking distance to town center and restaurants. Arthur is a very welcoming host who cooks great breakfasts. We were also treated with the most awesome shortbread made with his mother's recipe, and fresh flowers in the room. We are so glad we chose to stay here and in Nairn.
Nairn

Nairn
We had a warm welcome and Mary is a truly excellent host and we will definitely be staying here again next time we visit Scotland. It was spotless and beautifully presented. We had our own tv come breakfast room that even had a microwave and fridge in. It’s a 10/10 from us.
Nairn
Perfect central location in Nairn with private parking space. Beach, shopping facilities and local transport services were all a short walk from the apartment, and the apartment itself had absolutely everything you might need for your stay.
Room was good what staff there were were hard working and pleasant unfortunately and also in all places in nairn you had to go further afield for tea or coffee I think I would go back to this hotel when things have settled down
The breakfast was cooked to order every morning, served with fresh coffee and your choice of juice and yogurt. Honestly, some of the best bacon I have ever had was served at this hotel. It was a lovely way to start each morning.
Hotel has so much character with authentic features maintained Very clean, spacious and peaceful Surroundings are beautiful, within a few minutes walk to the beach and nature on your doorstep Friendly staff
A nice old house on the outskirts of Nairn. The hotel only has five rooms but the service was excellent tasty evening meal and breakfast dogs being welcomed was a big factor in our choice
Nairn
Nice hotel but a little bit pricey for a one-night stay in a room above a pub (£102 for double room with breakfast) - but comfortable and clean and very friendly staff
Staff very friendly. Room extremely old fashioned. Overall the hotel needs total refurbishment, it is very tired. Breakfast was good.
Nice and cosy B&B hotel with recently renovated rooms and a great breakfast. Definitely recommend.
Nairn
Best breakfast in Scotland. Liz is so flexible with the timing and her menu second to none.
