This is a gem of an apartment. We never expected it to be so beautiful, new and just perfect. Ellen is a very kind and generous host. She contacted us before we arrived to let us know that although breakfast was not included, she would provide the basics. We even found fruit and fresh free-range eggs, which was such a treat. The apartment is in a building of its own. It is quiet, extremely well-equipped and cosy - we would have loved to stay longer. We cannot recommend it highly enough. This was the biggest surprise of our trip as we never expected it to be so perfect :-). Thank you, Ellen, for a wonderful stay!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor was reminiscent of the early 19th century and very charming. We had booked a larger room, which had a 4 poster bed and spa tub. Breakfast was good as was the dinner. The bed was very comfortable.

Thank you to Albert and Aileen for a wonderful stay at Grainbank Mews. The room was beautiful and sparkling clean, with a delicious breakfast prepared for us each morning. Great location, just outside Kirkwall and a couple minutes' drive to all the shops and restaurants. We were really curious about life on Orkney, and Albert was very kind and informative, even pointing us in the direction of the 'Orkney Dictionary' (which I bought!) This place is a treasure and we would love to stay again the next time we are in town.
