Excellent beach location, especially if you have a dog as a dog friendly beach for them to run straight out on to. Facilities are excellent, really comfy and homely.

Friendly and welcoming small town with a fabulous beach. Good choice of cafés, restaurants, takeaways and pubs. Favourite places are The Old Ship Inn for drinks, accommodation and hospitality, and Seaglass Eatery for lunch, coffee and cake. Many places welcome dogs.

Ideal base for exploring the coast and countryside. The town has seen better days as the mines and other industries have closed but everyone is very friendly and there is a clear sense of community about the place. Pubs are traditional and there are two restaurants worth visiting - Due Fratelli and Shaj

Quiet seaside town in the north east.
Quiet seaside town in the north east.quite a few caravan parks locally but it’s to be expected in that neck of the woods. Suffering like many places after the lock down ,so the trade we provided seemed to be welcomed . Clean sea front nice beach,dog friendly(ish).

We loved the down to earth friendly people. There was always a good morning when you passed most people. We felt comfortable here and would not hesitate 2 go back again. The pubs were friendly and we loved the open fires and the locals are just so nice. Our favourite place 2 go for a pint was The Cresswell Arms. We felt at home and not uncomfortable at all. Social distancing was observed and we felt totally safe at all times. The Golf Club was canny 4 a nice quiet drink and the views stunning. The walks along the beach were amazing. Its a truly beautiful place.

Clean beaches, friendly people.
Clean beaches, friendly people. Loved the allotments, enough local shops & central to go other place. We loved exploring the walks along the cliffs to near by areas and taking in some of its history although we are all living differently at this moment in time we made the most of quality family time playing the vast number of old fashioned games rather than mobile phones & tablets we never used the TV as we were too tired from making the most of being by the seaside & out in all the fresh air can’t wait to go back

From $121 per nightYou are made to feel welcome and the apartment is fully equipped so it was easy to be self-sufficient while staying there. There is a good fish and chips takeaway in very easy walking distance. Though parking is tight in the surrounding streets there is a place to park your car at the property. Newbiggin-by-the-sea is an interesting coastal town and provides easy access to the A1 and places of interest in Northumberland to the north of Newcastle, as well as access to the city itself. This was the second time that we have stayed at Seashells.
