Great beach on our doorstep many places to shop lovely maritime cafe very nearby (we were very lucky to visit when they had the Lowry there) and can highly recommend the caboose at Blyth as a superb restaurant.

A lovely small town and everyone was so friendly. Few nice pubs and shops . A very dog friendly place too . Some very good café's too. Lots of history to find out too and I love the bay with the couple status A really good community vibe and I would even consider moving here .

I did a 1 night stop en route to Edinburgh. Wish I’d had time to explore more. I was cycling up to the wider beaches of Northumberland and was surprised how lovely the beach at Newbiggin by the Sea is. Local cafe C.J’s for breakfast was also really good - and opens early. Visited the local Arts Centre which was also v friendly, inviting and informative. They told me of more local things that I’d like to return to visit. Little curiosities such as the tiny stone carved faces in the wall of the Old Ship Inn - see photos.

I really enjoyed my meals at Due Fratelli and there are at least two chip shops I visited, both very good. The sole bar I went to was The Ink Spot as it was small and relatively quiet. I soon got talking to the owners about the music paraphernalia on the walls and went there every evening as folks made me feel very welcome. Getting around Newbiggin is relatively easy, even for an old crock like me. The town is quite small and the Arriva bus service is regular and punctual should you feel like exploring elsewhere.

It's a quiet village which we used as a base for...
It's a quiet village which we used as a base for visiting the wider area. There's not a huge amount to do in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea itself. We are vegetarians and we struggled a bit to eat out, not finding much choice in places. There are one or two restaurants and pubs and a good Co-op supermarket.

Perfect in every way. Felt like a five star boutique hotel room beautifully furnished. Bed very comfortable thick pilebrand new carpet. Power shower fantastic. Staff could not do enough for you. Bar meal well priced big portion very tasty. Ales great selection. Walking the Northumbrian coast perfect place to start or finish.
