Hotel in Rothbury
This 19th-century country town hotel is perfectly located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, in the tranquil village of Rothbury, just 11 miles from Alnwick. Week after their reopening following isolation and lockdown! First impressions driving up to the property was a nice surprise. I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in...there was no space on the car park but one of the managers moved their car for me....however I also parked on the road at front of property with no issue at all. All staff had face shields or masks and hand sanitizer everywhere. Duty Manager Steve greeted me and processed check in, great first impressions that continued all the way through my 2 night stay really nice bloke who knew his job, a friendly chap who accommodated everything and check in to my room was very thorough. Being a solo traveller this is so important! I upgraded my room to an attic room on booking and the room did not disappoint....fridge in room was an essential bonus and the large bathroom with bath and separate shower. Everything was clean and presentable. The outside space of this hotel is beautiful out on the decking in an elevated position...great for a g&t in the sun at the end of the days. Booking into the restaurant for at least one night is highly recommended...the food is top notch and freshly sourced produce. I highly recommend the tempura prawns and the lemongrass and ginger Asian inspired seafood curry. Did I say I travelled with my dog? Did not feel casted into a corner like some places...the bar area is plenty space to accommodate with super comfortable armchairs had all my meals at the same table and on my second evening found myself reading a book with a wee dram feeling very much at home. My room got quite hot given the gorgeous weather and after mentioning it a fan was left in my room. All the staff cant do enough for you. Do not miss this gem of a hotel!

Beautiful place to stay will definitely stay again we loved the pod we stayed in. Excellent location for exploring great places to dine out the Italian restaurant was excellent. Also the Indian meal we had in the Newcastle was delicious. Bamburgh castle and surrounding area was lovely lovely walk a long the beach to seahouses. Cragside National Trust was a great day out too.
A pleasant small town, though not much going on. New restaurant Bewick's is very good though only open til 7.30. Close to Cragside, which though the house is closed still has spectacular grounds. Good base for exploring the coast to the east and the national park/Kielder forest to the west.
