Everything, beautiful little find. We went for our second wedding anniversary 💕
We adored thw cottage, in fact we didn't leave all weekend. Andy was on the end of the phone if we needed him. Quirky and relaxing, people mentioning lack of wood, can't expect owner to have wood on tap we felt.
Wood in town cheap. Just use stove when you plan to cook heat up about two hours beforehand and it keeps place cosy for hours.

Newcastle is a very safe, friendly and clean town.
Newcastle is a very safe, friendly and clean town. I never saw a policeman, or the need for one during my whole stay. The locals were very polite and friendly. One thing that will be appreciated by English is the lack of potholes! There are plenty of coffee shops, cafes and places to eat. There is a total absence of litter, it must be a local pride thing, I even saw a street cleaner on Sunday. The only downside to me was the lack of Bitter in the pubs! I'm 68 and love my bitter, I'm spoiled by having two award winning local breweries, that both do excellent award winning bitter and mild!

Great little town at the foot of the Mourne mountains.
Great little town at the foot of the Mourne mountains. Lots of places to eat, plenty of places to keep kids entertained, and lots of hiking. Also a good base for exploring Co Down. Not that much of a drive up to Belfast either if you wanted to spend a day up there.

Newcastle town is about a mile away from Cherryhill Lodge.
Newcastle town is about a mile away from Cherryhill Lodge. Maybe need to take this into consideration if you haven't got your own transport. Saying this, Patricia kindly offered us a lift into town if she was around, though we didn't take her up on her offer as we preferred walking.

The Hotel location was excellent and Newcastle is good for a base to visit other places. There are a few decent Restaurants around and plenty of bars. There are a wide variety of shops including an old fashioned department store, of the type which seems to have disappeared from most High Streets.

Newcastle is great for a day out or longer stay.
Newcastle is great for a day out or longer stay. It looks beautiful, even in the rain. It has the natural amenities of the beach and the mountains and in summer there's the big wheel, carousel and boating lake. There's plenty of indoor amusement arcades too. And there are so many places to get a bite to eat - from a bakery hot snack to dinner in the Slieve Donard, there's something to suit everyone. Anyone new to Newcastle should check out Graham's icecream, it's really good.
Lights didn't work in the room. Contacted reception and after 20 minute wait and 2nd call to reception portor arrived. Couldn't fix and was going to arrange a room transfer. After another 20 minute I had to down to reception and organise myself with bag transfers. Booking was for two nights and discovered on the 2nd day, when I couldn't get into the room, I had to again to reception to organise. Also the room rate at the hotel was £50 cheaper than on booking.com
I expected a basic b and b but it's a very modern mini hotel. Family run and very clean with everything you need. Located right beside Tollymore Forest but only 5 mins from Newcastle centre.
Very nice hotel - clean, conveniently located in the countryside just a few minutes from the city. Staff was very friendly. Comfy bed. Breakfast was sufgiciently diverse - good coffee!
location was excellent, breakfast exceptional. staff were very accommodating we were given a room at the front of the hotel with a view of the seafront.
