Northampton

This Park Inn by Radisson is situated in Northampton town centre, just 5 minutes’ walk from the rail and bus stations. It offers 146 rooms, an on-site leisure centre and a bar/grill. Very professional staff, very proper hotel experience at budget hotel pricel - the hotel has been very well maintained and renovated without changing certain things that would double the room price (which would make it struggle in Northampton TC!) nice comfortable bed, all the basics were good - and bigger than a newer purpose built. Town centre on the doorstep, parking, taxi, bus and train too. + shower was excellent!

Sports, Shopping and Stately Homes

Northampton is one of England’s largest towns and has appeared in writing since the 10th century. The large medieval market square has an array of stalls 5 days a week, and nearby are the Market Walk and Grosvenor shopping centres. A larger retail and entertainment site is out of the town centre near Sixfields Stadium, home of Northampton Town FC. The Northampton Saints rugby union team play nearby, and Silverstone is south-west of the M1.

To the east is Billing Aquadrome, a marina complex with go karting, minigolf and a miniature railway. A smaller marina is along the River Nene in Becket’s Park, overlooked by 78 Derngate, a Grade II-listed house redesigned by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Other notable buildings are the Guildhall and colonnaded All Saints Church. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre dates to 1100 and is one of England’s largest round churches.

On the outskirts of town, by one of several golf courses, is Delapre Abbey, and to the north are other historic mansions of Coton Manor, Cottesbrooke Hall and the most famous of them all - Althorp House, the final resting place of Princess Diana.

The Northampton accommodation on Booking.com includes hotels with swimming pools, alongside apartment and guest house options near the train station and university.
