The countryside around Penrith is beautiful.
The countryside around Penrith is beautiful. This is one of the less touristy parts of the Lakes, but only because it has fewer high peaks, not that it is any less attractive. It is therefore quieter. Lowther is worth visiting, Asham is a lovely little town, very picturesque, Shap Abbey has sat almost hidden in a fold of the landscape since the 13 th century, Hawswater, Ullswater, the High Street ridge, the CTC cycleway, there is a lot to see and do.Guest review byCharlesUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Penrith is a picturesque little town that is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Ullswater area. We found it the perfect place to lay over following along drive up from Chatsworth that day. Located in a quite street a short walk uphill from the town center. On the back side it is only a short walk to the forrest recreactional walking paths.
