Shorefield, Bruichladdich is located in Bruichladdich and offers a garden and a terrace. This beachfront property offers access to a patio, free private parking and free WiFi. Lovely house, tastefully decorated. Felt cosy with the fire burning and relaxing with amazing views of the sea.
Set in Bowmore, THE BRUCE offers accommodations with free WiFi and TV. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and a hairdryer. The room was a great size, really comfortable, clean and warm. The bed was very very comfortable. The shower was amazing as well with good pressure. Great breakfast pack given as they even threw in some extra stuff to keep you going during the day.
A small quiet friendly village on the Island with a good restaurant plus a local hotel with bar also serving meals. A local spar shop catering for small items with the town of Bowmore a few miles away catering for larger needs. A very enjoyable place to spend some chill time with many interesting places to visit on the island not least the abundance of whisky distilleries.
Comfortable beds.Lovely well equipped Kitchen.Loads of books about local knowledge and a comfy chair to sit in to look! Good situation for touring the island, I had a car which I think would be essential, but I was only there for 3 days , not long enough! so maybe with a bit more time you could manage with public transport and walking.BUT you wouldnt get to the more isolated spots. I loved Portnahaven but the Island is full of gems and very unspoilt. Excellent birding at Loch Gruinart, from the hides.Museum in Port Charlotte well worth a visit just across the road from the hostel. Port Charlotte village has a couple of hostelries, they both do food and there was music one night. Also it is right beside Loch Indaal so lovely views across to Bowmore.
Liked the people very friendly and getting around the roads was easy. The distillery's are definitely a must went to all but two and the beaches are the best I've seen. Islay is a gem well worth visit and port Charlotte is a good base..
We loved the setting and the views across to The Paps of Jura, sitting in an evening watching the light changing. The hostel was perfect for us. We ate at all of the 4 eateries, which all had a very different ambience. Yan’s was our favourite eatery - lovely menu (especially for fish) and great friendly service. The worst was Port Charlotte Hotel - portions were small and the manageress was brusque and rude. The other hotel has the best value and most down to earth - great fish and chips (but also speciality fish platters for the discerning). We only went to the bistro near the campsite for breakfast - but they made a delicious classic Scottish breakfast in a classy way. We would have liked to see more variety with the draught bitters available at the hotels. Bus service really useful - possible to get to most places and distilleries. People really friendly and helpful.
Beautiful charming hotel. Lovely decor, very clean and comfortable. Make sure you eat at the restaurant, I had the best seafood chowder ever! Steaks were delicious too. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The hosts run a tight ship and are very welcoming! Loved the kitchen and the large dining tables! Our only grumble was no bath for our kids but other than that it was perfect and will most definitely return!
