Located in Colby and only 1.3 km from Brewery Beach, Ballavere Cottage B&B provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The property features sea views. A delightful old Manx cottage beautifully restored and extremely comfortable. Particularly enjoyed the lovely comfy sofas in front of the telly and the glorious roll top bath!
Port St. Mary has plenty of good walks in the area. Very quiet out of season and beach often has a lot of seaweed washed up in places probably due to stormy weather, ( Early April). A couple of good coffee shops locally and a very convenient Co-op store for groceries make self catering not a problem. There is also a very handy and very good Chinese Takeaway. Overall, the resort has seen better days, shops are limited but the surrounding area is one of great beauty and interest. History abounds throughout the whole island but a walk and visit to the local ancient crofting village of Cregneash and seal watching at the Sound and Calf of Man followed by a coffee in the eaterie overlooking it, are “ must do’s”. The steam railway from Port Erin (an easy walk from Port St. Mary) to Douglas is amazing as are trips up Snaefel, the highest point on the island, and the Manx Electric railway to Laxey and Ramsey provides some great scenery. There is a golf course in Port St Mary and opportunities for sailing along with sea trips are available in season. Paddle boarding is at Port Erin.
