We were shocked on arriving at Porthcawl at the tacky beach, awful clientele and run down location. On further travelling around the town we found a gorgeous area by the harbour with a stretch of next perfect for rock pooling away from the crowds and arcades. Lovely coffee shop, pizzeria near the RNLI great atmosphere and food.
Beautiful promenade, massive sandy beach, lively fairground, ammusements, quaint town centre, friendly people, beautiful rocky harbour area, funky restaurants and independents, very clean and peaceful feeling, life boat station. Great value snack bars and hi tide restaurant, donkey rides, easy to get in and out. Plenty of parking near to coney island

I have to say what excellent service...booked 2 rooms and due to unforseen circumstances I couldn't go so called Alice and she was so helpful and even though she didn't have to due to cancellation policy agreed to try and resell my room so I wouldn't loose my money ...so nice of her to do that and I will definitely be booking there again on my trips to porthcawl
