Lovely welcoming host Annette. Excellent, comfortable room & extra thoughtful touches like the complimentary wine & cakes on arrival in the living room made it feel very special. Full of interesting decor and charming features. RE: Covid-19 - Annette has clearly put in place lots of measures to comply with current requirements, with extra cleaning and hand sanitizer around that made our stay feel comfortable and safe. Would highly recommend.

Porthcawl has everything for everyone. Fun for the kids, nice bars and restaurants and the beaches are both wild and peaceful. During Covid 19 I was struck by the care and consideration taken in bars and restaurants. Very friendly locals. Further afield is beautiful Southerndown and Marcross. Well worth a visit.
Best, friendliest seaside holiday town with all you might want. Several beaches, all with excellent castle making sand. Areas of long stretches of beach with rock pools for crabbing and netting shrimps. One end of town an amusement park with rides, beach and donkeys. Opposite end of town long sandy beach and large waves and surfing school. Interesting lighthouse and harbour. The main street has been pedestrianised for shopping giving a pleasant atmosphere.
It would be unfair to comment on the town based on our experience as many places were still shut due to Covid19 . I would imagine it is normally much busier and a typical seaside town. We knew this before we went but we were there to relax and see some of the stunning views in nearby places. We were not disappointed.
I may be biased, having lived in Porthcawl between 1984 and 2014 but I still enjoy returning to the town. The beaches and harbour continue to develop and improve and the Grand Pavilion Theatre is attracting some great shows. We particularly like Isabella's Restaurant (corner of Well Street and Mary Street) and The Waterfront (overlooking the town beach). It's great that there is continuing investment in the town - although like so many seaside towns there remain areas that could still be improved. A few interesting independent shops have opened in the town and the small art gallery run by local amateur artists above the town's museum is always worth a visit. It's also worth remembering the town is within easy distance of Swansea, The Gower and Cardiff with its castle, Castell Goch, The National Museum of Welsh Life. If you have more time, visits to Caerphilly Castle and 'Big Pit' are also worth considering.
I have been here on a few occasions and find it to be a brilliant stay every time. It has everything you are looking for. Beautiful beaches within walking distance, lovely little harbour and modern restaurant area. Then into the town itself which has everything you could possibly need. The fun fair is a great laugh and the kids love it. Hours spent on the 2p machine. There are beautiful places near to visit and places to walk.
Perfect location overlooking the sea Plenty of pubs and things to do watched the match in the Brentwood small but very friendly pub great atmosphere with lovely food at half time Fish chips is to die for in the boathouse fish bar
