Love Portsmouth and Southsea. Fairly frequent visitor because my son lives in Southsea. Love all it has to offer, the seafront at Southsea with good hovercraft links over to Ryde IOW . Traditional seafront with a good selection of cafes and fish and chips and ice cream. 2 little piers and a little funfair. Portsmouth is just a short walk from Southsea. Particularly like the Historic naval dockyard which houses the Mary Rose, HMS Vicory and HMS Warrior. Easier to get a year long pass ticket because there is too much to see in just one day, good excuse to go back too. Love Old Portsmouth, lovely old houses which add to the character, Traditional old pubs and restaurants with views of the harbour. Spinnaker Tower and Gun Wharf Quays is worth a visit. Lots of upmarket shops , trendy bars and restaurants. Makes a contrast to the historic old part. Very good transport links by ferry and catamaran over to the IOW from the harbour. Brilliant place and only just over 2 hours from London Waterloo. Well worth visiting. Its an easy city to get around and there are plenty of cafes and eateries to rest at. The Spinnaker kitchen underneath the Tower is lovely with brilliant views of the harbour. Serves a selection of alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages. Sweet and savoury food. Recommend..
Very historic if you like that also good shopping would have done much more but the weather could have not been worse that’s why will definitely be back to explore more the buses where abundant and couldn’t believe how cheap the taxis where
The Herritage Dockyard appears a bit expensive but we spent 2 full days there seeing the Mary Rose, Victory, Warrior and the M33,. The D Day Museum in Southsea is also worth a visit. Gun Wharf Keys shopping centre is great for finding a place to eat, in a chain mainly, tbutI'd recommend the George on Queens Street. Southsea Castle isn't really worth visiting in winter, although they have a lovely cafe and the aquarium is reasonably small but an enjoyable hour - keep in mind it does cost loststo look after the fish afterall.
We have been to Portsmouth a number of times and have enjoyed visiting the historic dockyard and Southsea. Portsmouth can be very busy when visiting by car, but it seems to be much easier to get around on the main roads where possible.
Plenty to see and do HM Dockyard with HMS Victory and the Mary Rose plus other exhibitions within, D - Day museum, South Parade Pier and beach weather permiting , Gunwharf Quays shopping and Eateries, Commercial Road Shopping with Cascades indoor shopping plus I expect other places I have yet to find. There is also acces to the Isle of Wight via the hovercraft which takes 10 minutes and not expensive I thought for a return ticket.
Lovely city, plenty to do, good shopping and excellent eating facilities, I find Portsmouth a very clean and friendly city, excellent public service facilities, easy access to Gosport and the isle of Wight, excellent service by Wight link , the Naval Dockyards are definitely worth a visit, Southsea perfect location for walks and relaxing
Lovely, Bright, Clean Room. Shower was exceptional. Very Comfortable Bed. Great View overlooking the park and Seafront. Was an issue with heating and hot water, but staff were very approachable and the problem was fixed within 10 minutes. For a budget hotel, very good value for money. I recently stayed in a "big name" budget hotel in Portsmouth which resembled nothing more than a hostel room and was nearly £20 more than the Q8.
Portsmouth
Everything was spot on for us. The rooms were nice and clean, good bed and shower. The hotel pub and restaurant are quality and the owners and staff very friendly. The location is perfect for visiting the city and the carpark is just on the opposite of the hotel, and we even got a discount from the hotel for it. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we’ll be back here next time in Portsmouth!
The rooms were very spacious and well equipped. At around five miles from the city centre with easy access to M27 location was great for us. Free parking on site was very welcome as parking in the centre of Portsmouth is dire. Good precautions against the COVID virus were in place in all areas of the hotel.
This hotel is in an excellent location for Portsmouth Harbour and is great value. Whilst the rooms are a little dated, the food in the on site restaurant is exceptional and the staff are friendly and helpful. Also good that a single traveller was not charged double occupancy. I will be back.
Everything about this wonderfully historic hotel was brilliant - our room and the rest of the building such character that I don't think I've seen anywhere else we've stayed. The staff are lovely and more than happy to help. Highly recommended, we'll be back!
Portsmouth
Located in a quiet area of Old Portsmouth, within easy walking distance of several attractions. The restaurant has a really good menu and the food was beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well appointed with everything you could possibly need.
Location of the Hotel was really good, and from outside the hotel(front of Building) a nice view of the sea and Historic Dock, Really friendly Staff who offered everything they could, really impressed with the staff of the hotel, the room was a very big size.
Were upgraded on arrival to a superior room to what we paid, the room had a great view of harbour and the breakfast was excellent. The staff on duty were friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is ideal for gunwharf quays historic dockyard.
Good location, easy to get to and plenty of disabled parking. Room was spacious and comfortable with walk-in shower. All staff were excellent. We stayed in three Marriott hotels on this trip and Portsmouth was by far the best.
Great location for easy access to Gunwharf Quays, Old Portsmouth, Southsea and the IoW. Cheap parking in the Gunwharf car park. The room was basic but okay. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
Portsmouth
The Room and ensuite was clean bright fresh and comfortable. The location was perfect, staff were friendly and helpful and the Breakfast in the sister hotel was one of the best I have ever had
Portsmouth
Well located for the Historic dockyards, which was our main reason for being in Portsmouth. Restaurants within a few blocks. Private and quiet in the "cottage".
Like staying in a beautiful home with all the comforts of a hotel. Highly recommend for location, price and the style and comfort of the rooms.
Everything about the hotel was fantastic. Superb room, amazing dining and breakfast facilities, and very friendly staff.
We used the pool ,enjoyed breakfast and found d the hotel situated close to Portsmouths main attractions
