Located just minutes from Southsea seafront and the center of Portsmouth, Florence House is Portsmouth’s original boutique hotel, offering free WiFi and parking.

The hotel was so lovely. Everything I would have thought a small seaside hotel in England would be. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. The room was tastefully decorated and spacious. My husband and I had an afternoon drink and appetizer in the Garden restaurant. Then we had drinks and dinner with our friends in the garden as well. All of the food was freshly prepared and delicious!

It has such a special feel to it where you feel at home as soon as you meet the staff. If you had special needs, no problem. I loved the bar room which was so comfortable and again we felt like a part of the group. The garden area was special, a quiet place to have drinks and enjoy the scenery.

Royal Dockyard of the British Isles

I loved the location and have enjoyed previous visits but this time I was disappointed with the room , it was small and stuffy , the window wouldn't open, and the toilet absolutely stank, it either had a drainage problem or hadn't been cleaned , whatever the reason it was very unpleasant, I did report to reception the morning of check out and she was interested in what I had to say and logged it , It just spoilt the experience

It is one of those places that has so much to offer, but little is said about it. The naval dockyard is fascinating, and there are some very good pubs and restaurants in the city. Also a very good public transport system. For shopaholics, there's the Gunwharf Quays, with all the usual chains.

The variety of attractions especially of historical significance is not to be missed. There are very good food and refreshment facilities to complement your visit. Allow plenty of time if you need to complete the whole tour of the docklands. Keep baggage weight lightweight as possible to help with fatigue issues.

Stayed in Southsea, and plenty to see and do. Beautiful lake, with lots to do, family friendly. Beach lovely and clean. About a 15 minute walk along seafront gets you to Clarence Pier, and bit further along Gum Wharf

A historic city steeped in Royal Navy and Army history, a place of endless places to visit, from Henry the 8th to D-Day. A great seafront to promenade view the sea forts of Palmerston and the Isle of Wight, which is a short trip on the hovercraft, designed by Christopher Cockrill from Saunders Roe in Cows Isle of White. I was born in Pompey and love visiting.

Portsmouth historic dockyard has lots to see and do - but you will need at least 2 or 3 days to see everything. Gunwarf quay is a shoppers paradise and it also has lots of restaurants. The D Day museum at Southsea is also worth a visit. As well as a walk along the promenade and possibly a visit to the castle. Steak house near the dockyard is also very good.

The hotel is in a great location. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel, due to nightclub opposite at the front, not a problem! Everything was extremely clean. £10 to park for 24 hours, which is very cheap for Portsmouth. Easy 10 -15 walk to dockyards and Gunwharf Quays. Town centre 5 minute walk. Beds nice and comfortable. Great base and somewhere to sleep. Normal breakfast choices, asked for soya milk from bar, staff helpful and friendly.

It was the closest hotel to where our son is now living in Portsmouth (we live in Northamptonshire). The 20%off all food made the entire visit much cheaper than usual. We requested a bath and we had one. The food was delightful and plentiful. Staff were very attentive to all our questions/ needs. Offer of more towels was nice even though we hadn’t used all of our original ones yet.

Location of hotel which was away from Portsmouth City Centre but at the same time well placed for that, Gunwharf Quays and of course Southsea seafront including the Common. Also close to harbour and ferry links which we used. Great to watch the boats.
