I enjoyed portsmouth great places to eat and visit I would recommend south sea coffee near Palmerston road also the balti house in Albert road and the green post pub in London road north end I went to visit family so I dident do the tourist attractions
Very varied attractions within walking distance of one another (also frequent bus service). Favourite places to visit were Portsmouth Historic, Dockyard, The Mary Rose, The Spinnaker Tower, and the Gunwharf Shopping Centre. We found a nice little Turkish restaurant called "Istanbul Restaurant" in nearby Southsea where the food is cooked fresh within sight of the customers (the restaurant is just around the corner from Queens hotel, which is a fantastic place to stay).
Loved Portsmouth. Clean streets, clean sea, everything perfect. Polite taxi drivers - Aqua. Historic Dockyard very interesting, Mary Rose stunning! Victory stunning! We visited the Charles Dickens museum which was beautiful. We took the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight. Fantastic day. Travelled on the steam railway - delightful. So much to see and do. A perfect holiday in all ways.
Great shopping at gun wharf. 10 minutes from Holiday Inn North to Hayling Island and 15 minutes in the other direction from Gunwharf shopping complex where there’s plenty of varied eating places too. . Plenty to do & see. Great for an overnight stay.
HMS Victory and the related Royal Navy history was great! I’ve been looking forward to this for over 40 years. It was better then my expectations. The U.S. Constitution museum should look at the Victory museum and learn. It is 10 times better!
Loved touring the ships. Well done tours with good explanations of the history of each. Jutland museum excellent too. If we’d had another day we could have visited the Explosion and Submarine museums.

We changed hotels at the last minute as we were looking for somewhere with secure parking for our campervan, and the Village Hotel fit the bill perfectly. The hotel itself is lovely - obviously very new. Cheap to use the gym, a Starbucks next to reception for our morning bucket of coffee needed due to early start, and a great bar/restaurant. Very handy for the port to catch our ferry to Spain. I hadn’t heard of this chain before but will look out for their other hotels.

Was greeted to nice friendly staff whilst checking in & were excellent throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable & quiet with the shower nice & hot just how I like it. All in all a nice stay & would use again.

Good value for money for our stay. We usually try to stay in one of the Mercer Collection hotels when visiting the Portsmouth area if the room rate is attractive enough. Well appointed, comfortable and spacious rooms in all of their premises we have stayed in, excellent staff and great choice of breakfasts. Only managed to visit their pub once but found the food on that occasion superb.

We only spent one night but would be happy to return. The hotel is perfectly located for the beach, but also only a 5£ Uber trip from the University. We had a double room, tuck in the back of the hotel, quite and comfy. The bed was great and we appreciated a proper window to be opened for fresh air. The breakfast was tasty and the staff was nice.
