Bit run down in some areas but the green park area with music etc for bank holiday was very good and the the sea front is being redeveloped and the hover craft experience to the Isle of Wight was accessible
We absolutely love Portsmouth and try to visit as much as we can. The shops around Gun Wharf Quays are amazing and the bars and restaurants are excellent. It's easy to walk around or even get a bus to go to Southsea, it's a lovely walk back along the promenade. There is a small boating lake and Fair to keep the children entertained or even the adults
I know Portsmouth well lovely city always come back, wide open spaces lovely parks and beaches idea for taking the dog, lots to do and see especially the Naval Dockyard and Gunwharf Quays, convenient for bus and rail travel ,nice town centre, I've always found the city friendly, nice restaurants and friendly pubs
We visited the Kings theatre to see a show. Gorgeous old theatre with spectacular architecture. Was poorly managed or the show though with one toilet broken and one of the bar staff was very rude! We went shopping abd GunWarf Quay which was excellent. Lots of nice seating area's go get coffee and a fantastic carpark.
The history of Portsmouth is quite something. If you love books & movies, take note that it is the birthplace of Charles Dickens and Peter Sellers. Though not born there, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling and H.G. Wells lived in Portsmouth. There is a not-so-secret training base just off the coast; rumoured to be the place where spies go to train. Think Bond, James Bond. There are numerous vessels in the harbour, including many from the British Navy. The coast is rugged & beautiful, We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Portsmouth.
Portsmouth and the surrounding areas have a lot of things to do placed to go.The. Spinnaker tower was something you have to do, it was a little expensive but we'll worth the views on a sunny day which we luckily had. A quick trip over to the isle of Wight was another good day out, we would definitely recommend that you take the car over unless you are specifically going over to walk. There really is a lot to do, but make sure you check opening times in off season, we made that mistake and tried to find a pub for lunch but most didn't open before 4pm. Otherwise we'll worth going.
Location brilliant in Gunwharf Quays for access to the many shops and food places serving outside. 5min walk to Naval Dockyard and although not needed as on business, bus station and Portsmouth Harbour station adjacent to Gunwharf for access to area. Efficient welcome and felt covid secure. Room comfortable and clean with tea/coffee. Breakfast served with good choice hot or cold options for room consumption. Free parking for 24h in Gunwharf car park included in rate which useful.
Hotel appeared very shabby! Car parking was dreadful, especially for 'disabled' (like myself)! Not happy having to pay £5/Night ON-SITE!!! Extremely limited Refreshments, had to ask TWICE for MORE milk and Pillows! ONLY stayed @ this particular Hotel due to Family Celebration being conducted there. Staff need MORE training as for directions how to get to/from Portsmouth Renound World Wide Heritage sites!
Portsmouth
Great location by Gunwharf Quays and the historic dockyard, and very convenient for Portsmouth Harbour station. We were in a standard apartment but had a view of the Warrior from one of the windows. Very clean and generally comfortable. Either soundproofing in the building is excellent or all the neighbours were away, we didn't hear a thing from other flats. Barry was very efficient at meeting us and letting us in.
A large hotel and restaurant situated in a great location - particularly handy if you are catching a ferry from Portsmouth. The room was warm, quiet, and clean with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a cheap but decent restaurant attached, and the full English breakfast was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there were CCTV cameras watching over the large attached car park.
Portsmouth
Excellent value for money in this traditional B&B Free House in old Portsmouth. Breakfast is great (full English of course), the location close to the Gunwharf and HMS Victory the staff was perfect for work and pleasure, but most of all it is the staff that deserve a 5 stars rating - special mention for Nikki's nursing skills and Darren's cocktails.
Everything about this wonderfully historic hotel was brilliant - our room and the rest of the building such character that I don't think I've seen anywhere else we've stayed. The staff are lovely and more than happy to help. Highly recommended, we'll be back!
Accessible room overlooking my car in the car park - perfect the only problem and its not the hotels fault is that i could not find the entrance to the car park - I came in the exit in the end - that is my poor navigation I suspect !!!!
Very clean hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast were superb.Situated right by the Spinnaker tower and Gunwharf keys make this hotel ideal to explore all that Portsmouth has to offer.
Lovely Stay. The hotel was perfect a short walk to Gunwharf. The room was excellent such a great view of the Spiniker Tower and HMS Warrior.Very warm and comfortable and a great breakfast.Very friendly staff.
