Located in Ramsey, 11 miles from Douglas, At Cedar Lodge has a garden and free WiFi. Jo was very gracious and helpful. It was an outstanding country location with a fantastic view. 4 Stars Gold Award and the Breakfast Award Summerlands offers accommodations in Ramsey. Free private parking is available on site. The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV. Everything was fantastic. Dawn is wonderful and the breakfast she prepares is fantastic. The room is very clean and lovely. I can't find anything negative.
Located in Ramsey, 16 miles from Douglas, Milntown Self Catering Apartments has a restaurant and free WiFi. I loved everything about Milntown Apartments. The location is superb - within easy walking distance of Ramsey town centre and also handy for buses if required. The setting is magnificent, in a courtyard behind a handsome mansion, with access to superb acres of gardens. The standard of the accommodation is first class and all facilities have been supplied. The staff could not do more to help and every request was complied with most willingly. I cannot think of a better place for a peaceful holiday in beautiful surroundings.
Located in Ramsey, above the Mooragh Park, Baie Mooar Guest house offers panoramic sea views and views towards Snaefell. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Jenny and Simon have down a beautiful renovation of old Victorian house and were very attentive hosts.
Early January is not the time to go to Ramsey or the Isle of Man for nightlife and a good selection of restaurants. Most places were closed. I regularly go in the summer for the TT when it is a totally different place. As newly weds. this was the first time we had been to the Isle of Man. Jurby motor museum is only open one Sunday a month in the winter - missed that! Wanted to go to the Creg-ny-Baa pub on Tuesday evening 5.20pm but that was closed too! The House of Manannan Museum in Peel was open on the Tuesday we visited and was excellent! Go off the main roads and explore the small lanes, there are lots of beautiful villages to explore. Try the road from Sulby to the bungalow on Snaefell or Ramsey to Maughold and then the coast road to Laxey.
The setting of Ramsey Bay and the excellent Mooragh Park can be enjoyed for walks on level ground, while it is easy for more adventurous visitors to head off into the surrounding countryside and coastal areas for more challenging walks. From Ramsey there are good bus services to all parts of the island, while the Manx Electric Railway between Ramsey & Douglas gives a different perspective on travel along the coast. Milntown estate with its mansion, restaurant and acres of splendid gardens is well worth a visit.
