Muncaster Castle Coachman's Quarters are now all self catering with recently refreshed and redecorated rooms all with access to communal kitchen, dining room and lounge areas. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower pressure was good and the walk from the Coachman's House was really short and very convenient. The castle and grounds were spectacular and the show was fun. The bird show was really great. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The pastries were amazing. I wish I could have taken some home. All in all a great trip!

Rosegarth Guest House is located in the coastal village of Ravenglass, in the Lake District National Park and only 3 minutes from Ravenglass Rail Station. Location of the bed and breakfast was situated in a lovely village with beautiful views of the sea, superb parking and also was a 2 minute walk to the train station and mini steam railway. The walking routes around the area of Ravenglass was superb as you could hike to Eksdale or a shorter hike around Muncaster Castle. Ian and Sarah were very accommodating and polite and their suggestions on nearby pubs/dining was spot on. Finally and most importantly the breakfast was superb with a very impressive variety with fresh Cambrian breakfast being the winner !

Ravenglass is a gem, it is so relaxing it is like going back in time. Unspoilt no hustle and bustle just a Main Street. The estuary is picturesque and there is a lovely walk over the bridge alongside to Saltcoats. The Ratty Line narrow gauge railway trip is well worth it. The ice cream available in Ravenglass, handmade and either from the van or in tubs paid via an honesty box, is absolutely delicious. There is a tiny post office and no other shops it is the perfect place to get away from it all.
We loved Muncaster Castle, bird displays, the grounds, castle tour, hotel in Ravenglass, railway. There was so much character here, and although we visited during the summer holidays it didn't feel that busy. We were treated really well in the Coachman's Quarters, able to explore the grounds out of hours. Everything was much closer together than I thought it would be. We just had to step outside our apartment door and we were in the middle of everything. The whole place is brimming with birds and wildlife. We absolutely loved it.
Ravenglass is a lovely little coastal village, with pleasant walks and views. The Pennington Hotel is a superb place to stay and has great facilities, serves good food and drink and best of all, the staff are excellent
I visited Ravenglass because of the steam railway but also enjoyed the peace and lovely views. The Ratty Arms is an excellent pub and I had a pleasant stay at the Pennington Hotel. It is a long drive from Hereford and so I must try using the main line train when I go there again.
It was in the middle of nowhere, but about 10 miles away was a small town with all the shops. There was a petrol station 10 mins away with a small shop. It is the great outdoors with the lakes not too far away.
Only a short stay but lovely location. Bar food at Ratty pub very good. Muncaster Castle nearby well worth a day out (previously visited) and looks excellent for walking around Duddon estuary. Steam train journey to Dalegarth also a great trip out.
Ravenglass
Excellent position overlooking the Solway Estuary, easy to find in the Main Street of Ravenglass. The property is attractive and well maintained. We had booked a small twin room and whilst it was small, the space was more than adequate for our needs. There was a guest lounge but on the occasion of our visit it was closed as a Covid precaution. A comprehensive 'tick box' breakfast menu completed the night before led to a well cooked tasty breakfast served in a sunny dining room. All in all, an excellent choice - recommended
Stunning views. Perfect for watching the sunset or sunrise if you're up early enough. The room was huge - we said they could have two rooms in the space. The food (from the Hotel a few doors down) was superb and comfy sofas in the bar area were very comfortable. Food & drink prices were reasonable for 'Hotel' prices.
