With a picturesque village location in Rhayader, Elan Hotel is surrounded by scenic Powys countryside. The traditional inn features a restaurant and cozy bar with free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was lovely and the location was exceptional. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
This modern 3-story guest house offers contemporary accommodations in the heart of the historic market town of Rhayader. A selection of 9 guest rooms is available for a convenient and private stay. Friendly staff and very helpful about local places to visit and where to eat
Located in the market town of Rhayader, within the rural historic county of Radnorshire, the Crown Inn offers en suite accommodations with free Wi-Fi and TV. Usually book a chain hotel but I decided to try something different, glad I did, it was a nice change of scenery and I enjoyed the character of the room and the pub. Stopped here as a base for filming out during the day. Liked the private entrance so I could come and go and when I wanted. Its a really nice friendly town and I would 100% come again and book here again. Its encouraged me to start using little independent accommodation now.
Located within 2625 feet of Elan Valley in Rhayader, Bryn Derwen features accommodations with free WiFi and TV. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a Full English/Irish or a vegetarian... The accommodation and attention to detail were first rate. The breakfast provided was excellent and my visit was an absolute pleasure. I loved my time at Bryn Derwen and would definitely stay there again.
Located in Rhayader, just a 3-minute walk from Elan Valley, Ty Morgan's Apartments has accommodations with a restaurant, a bar, a garden and free WiFi. Very comfortable and warm with space to put our bikes at the foot of stairs to apartment - which after a hard days cycling is a real bonus.
Located in n ELAN VALLEY (Near Rhayader), Penbont House offers accommodations with a patio or a terrace, free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as a bar and a garden. The staff were fantastic and the hotel is in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed our stay. If you are bringing a dog, the ground floor bedroom has a door that takes you onto a grassy area. Great for letting the dog out for a quick break before bed.
A nice market town ideally placed as a base for walking in the Elan Valley. Fair selection of pubs offering good food and a very good Indian restaurant offering eat in and take away options. Our visit was out of the main holiday season and this was reflected in the town being very quiet during the evenings
The local facilities were really good and also the local people. Everybody is always polite and very welcoming and when you have been a few times they get to know you. The accommodation that we stopped in 2 Bear Barn is excellent and the hosts were really friendly and anything you wanted was provided. Spotless house and good parking.
I've been staying here since the late 90s , it's a nice place ideal for a trip around the dams to see some lovely scenery. It's a shame so many pubs have gone since then, there used to be so many more.
Rhayader is an excellent location, so much to do. We arrived on the Friday, went to Gilfach Nature reserve, Saturday was Powis castle and Hafren Forest. Sunday Devils bridge via the B5474 which is also the national cycle route if you're feeling fit, and Kite feeding at 3pm. It's also a designated dark skies area in the Elan Valley and the night skies are beautiful. There is such a sense of space. Wonderful place to get away from it all.
Rhayader is a lovely town, situated in a beautiful area. Unfortunately, it is also a main thoroughfare for lorries in Wales and the traffic was ridiculous. Lorries thundering through continuously ALL day and during the night too.
Very friendly locals. Lots of pubs and restaurants to choose from. We ate at The Crown. Food and service were wonderful. We had a pint in The Castle. It’s quite a locals pub but everyone was friendly and we felt very comfortable. Great pint of Brains Bitter. Happy atmosphere. We loved this pub. Rhayader is not only a great base to explore the Cambrian Mountains but there are lots of short easy walks in and around the Town with Nature reserves nearby.
It was superb from start to finish. Martin, Idris and his team made me feel very welcome. Which is always important but especially when travelling on your own. I have stayed at The Elan a number of times over the last 20 years and this by far was the best. The hotel has been updated to a very high standard, all the team are friendly, knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be recommending and staying again.
The Bear is a gorgeous property, in a fantastic location in Rhayader. The room we stayed in was lovely and clean, with tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer. The owners are very nice and friendly people and they provided secure lock up for ours bikes. Would highly recommend this property and we look forward to going back again one day.
Very clean property with great amenities. Felt safe in a secluded area with shopping and tourist attractions a short drive/walk away. Andrew was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. From ensuring the property was clean to recommending places to visit nearby.
The staff were fantastic and the hotel is in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed our stay. If you are bringing a dog, the ground floor bedroom has a door that takes you onto a grassy area. Great for letting the dog out for a quick break before bed.
Lovely comfy, clean and spacious room with a big ensuite. Great location that was walking distance to everything in Rhayader and close to the Elan Valley. Staff were friendly and helpful and made a fab breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely suite, beautiful, and a great bed. Bathroom (shower) is cramped but this is because of the space available and the rest of the accommodation more than offsets this. Could really relax in this suite.
Very convenient for nearby relatives. Esso garage within 50 yards with Spar and Greggs cafe Plenty of picnic benches in grounds for snacking outside.
Good central location for pubs, restaurants and shops. A short drive to nearby kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm and the Rhayader dam.
We arrived late and departed early the following day the hotel was very accommodating.

Lovely room and breakfast, really good location with lovely views, will definitely stay again.
The excellent location, the modern apartment with all mod cons.
