Being at the top of the hill.. you didn’t have to drag your luggage into the little village and the parking was right beside in the lot. The English breakfast ( included) was delicious with plenty of cereal/ fruit options. Bathroom was nicely renovated. I loved the glitter curtains, headboard and wallpaper!

The location was absolutely perfect and the view of the bay from our window was stunning. We also loved the quaint and interesting Garden room that we stayed in , small and cosy but had everything we needed. The garden itself is amazing , with lots of nooks and crannys , beautifully cared for by Dave . All of the above is hosted by Ann and Dave , lovely, friendly and helpful owners.
Lovely little beach and village. If you park at the top of the village(this is the only car park unless you have a parking space with your property)there is a very steep hill down and back up again. Not ideal for people with mobility issues. Permits for the top car park are available at the post office if you are staying for the week. The permit allows you to park in most Whitby and Scarborough car parks. The post office only takes cash for the permit which cost us £48 for the week. Lots of lovely walks from the village and splendid views.
It’s a very charming village ,full of history. Steep hills and steps to negotiate. Not for anyone with mobility problems or wheel chairs. Food outlets like pubs and fish and chips serve great food. No cash machines ,Costas or Greggs type shops here. In my opinion GREAT.
Loved the views at the top, there were interesting places to eat - Brambles Bistro (our favourite), Smugglers Bar, Bay Hotel plus a few smaller cafes. Robin Hood's Bay is a gorgeous place to visit but very, very steep. However, this adds to its character. The houses, individual shops and pretty beach make it an amazing place to visit.
Our rental property was in Robin Hood’s Bay but at the top in the “newer” part and had amazing views. Great pub close by and a well stocked shop which has great opening hours 7 days a week! There is a car park but it isn’t huge. We were lucky we had private space for 3 cars( 1 long, 2 small cars)! The walk down into the old village is steep but has adequate steps and spots to rest but may be too much for some. You can stop on the way up and down and look at the lovely array of shops! Lots of places to eat with great pubs! The beach is very clean and flat, so great for a good walk up to The Bogle Hole” and beyond to the brilliant cafe’ with toilets! The slightly rocky foreshore is a magnet for children and dogs alike but a safe place. You’ll love it!
Robin Hood's bay is an idyllic little seaside town with picturesque views and quiet little beaches, that is great for a short getaway and brilliant to use as a base camp to travel either up to Whitby or down to Scarborough. The town itself is located mostly on a steep hill that leads down into the bay and the beach, and is where most of the shops and food places are also located. This is not the most tiring of hills to climb but should be something people are aware of when visiting. Having tried the Brambles Bistro, a highly recommended stopping point for lunch, and popped into most of the shops that were there I can safely say you can have a decent day there. However beyond this you may be struggling to find too much to do that you haven't already. Durning our stay we found it somewhat inconvenient to get food later in the evening without travelling to nearby Whitby as on Mondays & Tuesdays most food places are closed or seem to shut around 4pm. The only alternatives in the bay were some of the hotels up top but they know how to charge when it comes to food prices. The parking around the town was good when we stayed (early April) and if staying on one of the council pay and displays you can use the same ticket purchased for 24 hours to park at any other in the county area that is council run. This saved us ome extra costs when we visited Whitby and Scarborough. All in all I would recommend stopping in Robbin Hood's Bay for a short stay, take in the sights and enjoy the lower bay area as a tourist but then use your other days to explore the surrounding Yorkshire countryside or other prime destinations.
Such an idyllic, historic town. The Bay had excellent pub-grub and a pleasant atmosphere. The Smuggler's Wine Bar had some of the best pizza I've tried. The Laurel was welcoming for their weekly pub quiz. Wandering the streets was enjoyable and surprising, though it is a shame that the bottom chippy no longer stocks the door-knocker 'treasure' hunt.
