St Albans is a very friendly town with people opening doors and being kind and considerate.
We ate in whetherspoons in their Tudor barns and they also had an outdoor area to eat and drink if no rain! The pricing of everything we ate and drank was of good value and was very clean.
There was lots of places we wanted to visit but most of our holiday it rained! But we did visit the shops which are all different and have different price ranges and styles.

I was there for work so didn't really have a chance to look around the place. I managed a visit to the cathedral which is a marvellous hulk of a mediaeval building and still an active place of worship. Wel worth a visit.

A classic english town with traditional houses, historical places and a small but well-cared city centre. St.Albans has a wonderful gothic cathedral, the calm and nature of the wide city park and the oldest pub in the UK is there. Services and shops make the city a nice place to live and to visit.
We loved the location. We were in a rush so the fact that there was a shopping area next door (with a McDs) made getting tea and some bits really easy.
Short drive to Harry Potter too.
Free parking, clean hotel, all extremely helpful staff (from receptionist, cleaning staff, waiting staff and even what looked like the caretaker who was hands on helping out the waiting staff at breakfast time).
If in the area, we will definitely stay again and will recommend to others (as it was to us)! :)
The location was very good. Parking at back of property was convenient and free. There was a good breakfast selection and all freshly cooked to order. The Hotel itself and the bar area, is quirky and atmospheric, as would be expected for such an old building.
The free parking so close to the center of St Albans is a plus and it's easy to walk around and explore the local area. The view of the cathedral from the St Alban room was great.
Well located near within walking distance of city centre, set in extensive graounds with lake, well furnished and equipped, comfortable bed, good breakfast, parking available
A comfortable stay in a good location close to station and city centre. Extremely helpful host.Highly recommended to travelers to St Albans for business or leisure.
