Royal Victoria Hotel, hotel in St. Leonards

With a fine position on the seafront in St. Leonards-on-Sea, this hotel offers traditional hospitality and a friendly atmosphere.

It is obvious the hotel was once very grande but it has slipped into disrepair. We enjoyed picturing it as it used to be. The room was comfortable.

Have been to St Leonards' a few times now and it is shabby chic with plenty of places to choose to eat and drink, The Heist is fantastic and also The Piper. Easy waking to Hastings and Bexhill and fantastic public transport links if you want to go further afield. It is well worth a visit.

My accommodation was close to the beach and the shops.

My accommodation was close to the beach and the shops. Everywhere within walking distance, so did not use buses although they appeared to be plentiful. In St. Leonards the shops on the front mostly closed down and had an unkempt look. Felt the buildings could do with a refresher. The shops are mostly antique furniture with a great selection and variety. Some restaurants Italian and Indian. St leonards close to Hastings Town centre. Small but had a variety of shops, but could do with more gift shops. Countryside fantastic. Great walks. Could do more with more attractions on the castle and local history. Alexander Park. Fantastic. Great day out picnic and walking. Didn't get to theme park, but only due to weather. Visited the 'true crime museum'. I enjoyed it. Worth visiting, but building looked really tired. I would go again and perhaps spend more than 5 days, so I can get around more.

We enjoyed walking along the promenade with views of the beach, pier and sea. Plenty of places to stop for coffee and cake. Hastings Country Park with its views and its cliff-top and woodland trails is a great place to visit.

    Lovely place.

Lovely place. Old-fashoned elegance and interesting architecture. Shingle beach with wide views of the channel. Be aware the gulls sit on the roofs from about 4.30am and are very noisy, especially when the newly fledged youngsters demand feeding. Nearby Hastings with its Shipwreck Museum, fishing fleet and fresh fish isn't far away. Also Rye is an interesting visit.

St Leonards seems to be under development in certain areas which looked good, plenty of places to eat and drink. Nice to walk across the sea front to other towns like Hastings and Bexhill. Also has good bus and rail links.

We stayed in St Leonards as we felt it was a good base for Eastbourne: to watch the tennis and were able to get there by train. It was also within walking distance of Hastings and easy reach of Battle. We enjoyed some of the local restaurants and exploring the local area.
