Some of the best hotels in Scarborough near Scarborough Open Air Theatre include The Norlands, Villa Marina and The Headlands Hotel.
Some nice bars and restaurants and lots for the kids to do at the beach and amusements. Wasn't keen on the amount of drunks and homeless people about. Didn't feel unsafe walking around at night, but did feel a bit on edge and could often smell drugs in the air.
Lovely beach with Donkey rides on it, a real blast from the past for me. Only a short walk from the train station. Good shopping centre Plenty to do / see there Good bus service to other places nearby
Excellent place for people with kids, many amusement arcades, fairground, pleasant beach, marina, everything a usual seaside area has. However it is very hilly with many steps to navigate, so if you have problems walking, and tramway down to the beach/ up to shopping area is closed, a taxi will be needed. Scarborough cabs were excellent, clean cars, pleasant drivers and arrived on time. Many great cafes and bars especially liked “The cats pyjamas” on the upper level near the tramway and the “Princess cafe”on the sea front which served excellent fish and chips.
I have visited Scarborough twice this year. On our first visit in August, we visited the lower half of the South Beach, the amusements were fair and paid out prizes. On the trip in October, we visited the upper part of South Beach. We found that a particular set of amusements all owned by the same company literally rigged all the 2p pushers. I put in £7 and then went to find where my partner was. By the time I returned, I found that the staff had taken the prize I was playing for and placed it at the back of the machine. I watched the staff member in question after this had happened, open several machines and repeat this process over and over again. I will not be using any of these establishments again. I would stick to the amusements on the lower end of South Beach. You will be more likely to have a good time and win some prizes. The food on the front can be expensive, but if you walk around you can find some very good deals on lunch. We visited The famous Fish Pan. Had a slap up Fish and Chip Lunch with all the trimmings for £9.50 on our first day. We went up towards the fair, and found a burger van and got a lunch for £4.50, double burger with fried onions and sauce on our second day. They have discount food shops further in land that you can buy cheaper meals and drinks, we decided to purchase food and drink in those places and spent time in rooms closer to the end in order to stretch out our remaining money. I think next year we will visit the Sea Life Centre and try the North Beach and explore further.
Great sea front the harbour bar ice cream best I've tasted and the lifeboat fish and chips take out and cafe absolutely fantastic 1 portion was enough for 2 there was plenty to do the beach was clean also took a open top bus to peasholm park lovely walk and illuminated walk at night also took a light railway ride there is also an open air theatre there is plenty to do for all ages enjoyed our stay and will return again and stay at the dickens bar
Clean, pretty, lovely beaches and walks along the Cumbrian Way. Lovely gardens and parks, interesting museums. Some great places to eat and drink, and interesting independent shops. It's a delight if you get stuck in and have a proper look. The castle is brilliant, and the views stunning.
I booked a double room with sea view but we ended up in a suite with a part sea view. The room was great and had a large bath and separate shower. There was plenty of wardrobe space and areas for doing your hair and make-up. The location was great even though it was on a hill the walk down was quite easy either by steps or path and the hotel was next to the cable car if you couldn't get up or down the hill. It lead straight on to the front. If you came out of the hotel and left you were near bars and cafes so location was perfect.
The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean, rooms are immaculate with really comfy beds, breakfast was brilliant with plenty of options, but I think the best part has to be the service and staff. Everyone is so helpful, friendly and lovely that it’s the highlight of the stay. Each person goes out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Scarborough but here after our visit. Faultless and we can’t wait to come back! : )
Scarborough
Everything was extremely well organised especially under the current circumstances. Jamie was super efficient and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent and we were well looked after. The room was spotless (as was everywhere). Our room had a fabulous view over North Bay and beyond. The Hotel for us was in the best location in Scarborough, easy walking to attractions on both sides of town. Thanks to Jamie, Tony, Elaine and the girls for a lovely stay.
Hotel was immaculate Staff are so friendly and helpful, couldn't fault any of them. We will definitely be back. Breakfast was the best we've had in a hotel. Not limited to set menu, just tell them exactly what you want and its just amazing ! In a lovely spot to walk to the sealife centre, peasholm Park, the beach is on the doorstep and you can walk into scarborough centre in less than 10 minutes . Loved this place !
Scarborough
The room was very comforting and the staff were extremely accommodating as I asked for a pet free room due to allergies. I didn’t get the gorgeous woman’s name who checked me in but she was an A1 professional. It was so easy to come and go during the day and night. It was a nice 15 minute walk to the city center. I felt safe even during the night time walks from town to the hotel. I will definitely return!
Scarborough
Excellent location to walk into the South Bay and also a 30/40 minute walk to North Bay. Excellent tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Great breakfast with lots of choice. You can purchase a parking permit for on street parking outside the hotel.
