Located in Shaftesbury, 17 miles from Salisbury Train Station, The Grove Arms, Ludwell provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Our stay was wonderful! We traveled with one dog (Lab Vizsla mix); our dog enjoyed her stay too. Staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Our room was good with all we needed during our stay. Our bed was comfy and breakfast was good as well. There is a restaurant inside the hotel that serves lunch and dinner. In addition, it isn't too far from Gold Hill (a picturesque spot in this town) or Cranborne Chase AONB. Definitely recommend if you happen to be in the area. We'll definitely stay there again for our next visit, thank you.

Holbrook Bed and Breakfast is a 10-minute walk from the ancient hilltop Saxon town, Shaftesbury. This guest house offers free WiFi, and free private parking. Diane was the most kind and welcoming host! I came a bit early for my check in time, but my room was already ready so Diane happily let me into my room. As a young, female solo traveler, I felt very safe and enjoyed getting to know not only Diane and Ian, but also the other guests at breakfast in the morning. The dining room is the perfect place to strike up a conversation - I especially loved the map of the world with pins in them! This BNB is an easy 5-10 minute walk into town. I also loved how every room is en-suite and private.

This is not a glitzy impersonal hotel. It is a lovely pub with 3 en-suite double bedrooms in a small village close to Shaftsbury. You specify what you want for breakfast and at what time and it is cooked especially for you. The bar in the evening was a really pleasant night, talking to lovely strangers! Absolute bliss.
Lovely town but marred by parking problem. The cash/card machines for pay & display had been replaced by phone only payment. Lacking a smart phone we used the call option but it cut out after we had given the card number so we don't know if we will now receive a fine in the post. So it means Shaftesbury's cafes & shops saw no revenue from our visit as we drove away to minimise any fine.
Shaftesbury is a beautiful town steeped in history. The Abbey ruins are extremely serene and there is a plethora of lovely independent shops selling a range of wares. There are many restaurants and cafes to choose from and an added bonus is the hill from the old Hovis advert! The views were great and the people were very friendly. The free museum was really interesting and the staff were very welcoming. Nearly everywhere seemed to be dog-friendly.
This is a delightful friendly very small town. Well worth a relaxing short visit. Full of shops, restaurants, pubs and of course the lovely Gold Hill. Peaceful and welcoming and full of local music! A really REALLY lovely happy place. So pretty, flower-filled.
Accommodation was in Semley . a lovely little village outside Shaftesbury. Great location. A new Shepherds Hut has been installed at The Bennett Arms which has been finished to a very high spec. Hosts were lovely. Fabulous breakfast.Shaftesbury has a good mix of gift shops and coffee shops. The bakers sells the best Saysage Rolls and Lardy Cake.

We arrived early and were able to check in immediately. The hosts are lovely and gave us tips on the area. Breakfast was delicious, much better than we'd expected. The hosts really went to a lot of trouble for us. Easy to find, easy to park. A short walk from the town centre but very convenient to access and leave. Lovely garden as well.
Absolutely lovely hotel, great location, comfortable rooms, good swimming pool and plenty of choice at breakfast. The stay was made by the lovely staff that work there from Sue and Chelsea at breakfast, helpful staff at reception and not forgetting Peter the night porter. Really recommended

The Studio is a quaint small cottage idea for two people. Its in beautiful countryside, and we enjoyed our stay in this quiet secluded cottage. It was our first visit to Dorset and it was ideal to visit both countryside and coast.

Easy access for car and walking to the Shaftesbury High street. It was clean and breakfast was brilliant. Host was very welcoming, always available and helpful. If we need to we will use again.
Lovely old pub 3 miles or so from Shaftesbury & Gold Hill. Very hospitable. Decent meal. Good beer. Room was lovely. WUFI. Slept like a lot after 70 Mike cycle ride. What’s not to like.
Fabulously spacious rooms. Wonderfully attentive staff. Had two really good evening meals thanks to George the chef and his team. Perfect spot for exploring Shaftesbury and surrounding area.
Shaftesbury
It was a very cozy hotel for my three family members to stay. And the breakfast was great too. My family was happy because of my experience in a traditional pub.

Great location, with easy access to Compton Abbas escarpment and Fontmell Downs. Sense of rural Dorset in the historic and comfortable property.
