I've stayed here before and was very pleased with all aspects so booked again. This time was the same. Excellent in all areas. It's fantastic value for money with clean, well appointed rooms and the best thing about it is the staff. Friendly and accommodating. Laid back but professional at the same time so that you feel very much welcome and looked after. Definitely booking again and have already recommended to family and friends.

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Maplestone is a recently renovated bed and breakfast situated in Shepton Mallet, 29 km from Bath Spa Train Station.

Wow! What a fantastic B&B! The furnishings and decor were top notch, super comfy beds, and the garden patio area was absolutely gorgeous! Alan was a superb host - we enjoyed our visit with him very much! He recommended a great Indian restaurant that was a short walk away, and the food there was delicious! Alan had a wonderful breakfast in the morning for us. Overall we were delighted with our stay. We wished we could have stayed for another night!

Tanya and Robert made me really feel at home. They really couldn't have done more to make sure I was comfortable during my stay. I would thoroughly recommend Longbridge House. Great hosts, great location, great place.

Shelton Mallet seems to be a good representation of smaller, rural communities in Southern England. Beautiful surrounding countryside and closeness to some additional cities of interest such as Wells and Glastonbury. Several good restaurants were recommended by the owners of the inn. Roads in the town can be a bit tight.

It is in a good spot for touring around Dorset etc. Very quiet little town with not much to do. There is a Greek restaurant and a cafe that opens during the day. The Swan is one of the nicest pubs.

The Bath and West ground is literally just a mile away. Local facilities for shopping are also close by. If the weather is good there are beautiful walks and things to do. Where this is, you would definitely need a car to make the most of the surrounding area.

The High Street and town square are shoddy and run down, Most of the shops are empty , the main pub boarded up ,and the whole street looks like a lick of paint would not go amiss. The few shops open are nice enough and there are a few coffee places during the day that are pleasant but come the evening there is little to offer as far as eating out with out getting into your car and going out of the area , as only one restaurant open (,from mid week) or domino's . One pub . I feel that the local council should step up and try to re-vamp this historic High Street. Shepton Mallet Prison was worth a visit as the history is fabulous but this also could do with a little re-vamp by adding a few more "props" to make more of the atmospher. and also the East Somerset Railway if you like steam train,
