Lord street and surrounding areas are good plenty of cafes places to eat and charity shops etc If you like Chinese food go on east back street it's a Chinese buffet self service etc it's called I think Gourmet Chinese buffet it's nr to Natter jacks running sports shop It's good food they will bring drinks to your table I had a pint of Stella lager price I think £3.50 that is good value And I think it's cash only when I went 3 days ago. Lovely clean and good staff are friendly etc
Thumbs up,we enjoyed our stay, the museum was impressive and the walks around the Lake .Nice cafes and restaurants a few shops closed but signs of regeneration..walking the best way to get around ,buses are plentiful too, interesting Victorian history and buildings .. Wetherspoons, there's 2,good for breakfast!
Don't give cash to Beggars at night, my husband felt sorry for a couple and gave them a £5 note, the next night the same couple along with 2 scruffy men asked us again, when I asked what they had done with the £5 from previous evening they suddenly turned away, and shouted after us well we have to try you know. Westminster Tea rooms cook very good meals.
We have been to Southport many times over the years and it is a lovely place but in need of some modernisation and redevelopement especially in some of the shopping arcades which are virtually empty of retailers now.
Southport is a great place to visit. Ainsdale beach is great for games and walks. The sand dunes are fun to explore. The promenade is lovely and there's lots to do for everyone. Parks, boating, picnics, arcades, rides, shopping, it has it all. Everything is within close proximity to each other, from the retail park to the theatre. A great place for making memories!
Old fashioned lovely buildings but in need of painting and general tidying up. Loved the wrought iron canopies and beautiful hanging flower baskets. Loved lord street with bars and restaurants. Could do with a couple more cafes. Ate at the independent restaurants as always better than the chained ones and always support them. Also pier was not far from lord street and our hotel. Opposite the canopies on the other side of the road are lots of green areas trees, benches and fountains. Was sad to see the pavilion cafe had closed. Conker trees were fab. My dog loved it. Was sunny and locals were friendly. Only poor thing was KINGS CAFE near the pier refused to fill my water bottle up for my dog. Said they had no tap ??? Wonder how they wash their hands and crockery ?? Heard older woman say that l should have brought water and l could buy a bottle. Set off with a litre bottle but it ran out as was out all day so won’t be in there again. Horrible woman. All other shopkeepers were lovely

We actually stayed next door but one to the captains quarters at the Andora. It’s owned by the same people and could accommodate a double room for us, which wasn’t available at the captains quarters. We literally booked the room at tea time in the day if the stay as an unplanned trip to Southport. The hotel was just what we needed and we particularly liked the communal kitchen which was brand new and came in handy for late night pizza after a night out in Southport!
After reading quite a lot of poor reviews I nearly opted to cancel and book another hotel…it just goes to show how wrong it would of been of me to do that. The hotel is dated but our rooms where clean, comfortable and cheap.one room was on the first floor and the other on the fourth. I can’t comment on the food because I dinned out both days.but overall excellent for the price. I’d definitely book here again the next time I stay in Southport.
Very nice people to greet you when you get there. Friendly, welcoming and pleasant staff. Nice room for the price I paid, showers are a decent size. Bed was fairly comfortable and room was clean, with a couple of tea and coffees laid out for you. I will very likely choose this hotel to stay at again when visiting Southport.

Can't wish anything better in terms of location. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Warm welcome on arrival from host Tony and throughout our stay made us feel like visiting good old friend. Breakfast was exceptional with options to chose for each day and prepared to the high standard.
Location, safe parking, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the waterfront suite overlooking the lake that we had, decor of the whole hotel was modern, very clean, not forgetting Betty the robot 🤖 which was brilliant. In fact everything.
Very clean and well furnished. Welcoming good atmosphere. The lovely and and very helpful Claudia was a bonus at checkin and helped us find some local and reasonably priced parking. Great hotel, definitely worth a stay.
The hotel is located on the esplanade opposite a park with model railway/village which was serene. The beds were comfortable with a very good and well placed TV. The staff were very courteous and anxious to please.
The staff throughout the hotel were excellent..reception ladies lovely..bar and waiting staff friendly...great breakfast..and lovely sunny terrace outside to eat and drink..and near to all the bars in southport..
The street the hotel is in is dirty however the hotel is situated within great distance from the town and the pier. The hotel was fairly clean and very modern. Staff were nice. Fans in the room.

We arrived on sat and was easily directed through the locked gate, we walked up the many stairs that I read in the reviews and it was all worth the exercise. The apartment was beautiful modern and clean. There was WiFi and Netflix which were great additions. I loved the idea of the snacks and drinks you pay extra for, brilliant idea. I figured out to turn up the heating to 25-30 and it warmed up which was simple enough. We absolutely loved it and will highly recommend to friends, definitely will stay again if we stayed on Southport again
All of the above were fine. But a special mention must go to the staff. Especially Ryan, the manager, who really went out of his way to help in any way. The owners should be proud of him.
