I can't tell you much as I was using Southport as a base to visit Nature Reserves in the area. The holiday season was over but it was still quite busy. There area has a diverse selection of Pubs, Restaurants, Cafe's, Shops etc., to cater for all tastes and budgets. "Lord Street is the main shopping street of Southport, in Merseyside. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) long, with a roundabout marking each end of the street. There are many water features, gardens and architectural buildings along the entire street, with a mix of residential, commercial and public buildings. It was laid out in the early 19th century". Visited from 2010 to 2019 and had wonderful holidays.

Visited from 2010 to 2019 and had wonderful holidays. Sadly Southport is looking tired. Lord Street used to be lovely but it's now mainly charity shops or empty shops. Homeless sleeping in doorways. The promenade and gardens are lovely. Excellent play area for kids. The pier has been closed for a while and when we were there we heard there had been a fire the day before. It's not particularly dog friendly. Windmill pub does good pub food. There are two retail parks with the usual shops but that takes you away from the main area of Lord Street. So disappointing won't be back.

Southport has some of the most fantastic Victorian buildings of anywhere I've been in England. Anyone interested in architecture, it's a must. As with all these places some parts are a bit tired, but you can imagine what it once would have been. There's some nice Bars up the top end of Lord Street, which is the main broad Avenue, with an exceptional Korean restaurant, The Korean Kitchen - absolutely fantastic. I had a great few days in Southport and the surrounding coast is fantastic with abundant sand dunes and pine forest.

Southport is a lovely place to visit . We really enjoyed our stroll along Lord street and it was a nice atmosphere with lots of cafes, bars , and people enjoying food and drinks outside, Large selection of places to eat Chinese , Indian , mexican good old fish and chips , and we found a beautiful place that did the most amazing afternoon tea. We found Southport to be very friendly and chilled place to stay . We will definitely visit again 😄

Looking really run down. Not a lot of Tourists. A lot of things are closed. Splash Swimming pool needs to be booked in advance and its the only attraction really. Such a shame it doesn't seem the county council is looking after the place.

They need to get the pier back open.

They need to get the pier back open. There is plenty to do for the kids. But when I used to visit when I was younger the shops on lord street were the best. All very elite. Even the few charity shops. It’s now so upsetting to see them all shut up . I know it’s like a lot of places. But this is a seaside place with lots of visitors. You can go to lytham or Llandudno and their high street is thriving.

An exceptionally good hotel in a perfect, central location. The room was very comfortable with a huge bed and the added bonus of a fridge and coffee machine. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The staff were professional, friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay at The Vincent Hotel when we next visit Southport.

I think this is probably the best place to stay in Southport. Had the feel of a "proper" hotel. Breakfast was very good and there was a nice, chilled vibe. Our room in particular had a really nice view to the north ("sea views" don't exist in Southport!!) and I'd recommend you asking for this when you stay here.
