Hotel situated in the town, which is always busy, no matter what day. A good mix of cafes, shops and hotels. It's a 2mins walk to the beach with many pubs around. Would highly recommend the Adnams Lighthouse tour.. was about 1hr long with a very knowledgeable and amusing guide. Been back here a few times and never disappointed.

Fishing from the pier was a great hit with our grandson even though what he caught was too small to keep. The guy at Fisherman and Friends was very helpful with advice and fishing gear. The Sail Loft in Southwold was a great restaurant with good food and staff . We wanted to eat dinner at Sole Bay Inn in Southwold but you can't book and we could not get a table for 5 adults and 2 children even by turning up early. The Swan at Barnby was a brilliant place for lunch with great fish, good service and play area outside for children. You must book in advance though.

I like Southwold and although I'd not been in years it was nice to revisit and thankfully still a destination I'd return to again. It was the first time my husband had been there and he admitted he wouldn't mind going back again as well.

    Like going back in time.

Like going back in time. Such nice people in shops and restaurants. The area seems to attract polite people, happy to pass the time of day. The area is gorgeous, the architecture and history fascinating. My husband has mobility problems but I felt absolutely safe walking the prom in the evening alone. I don’t know why it took me so long to find Southwold but could move in tomorrow. Shout out too to the street cleaners (not a jot of rubbish) and those cleaning the public loos who are a credit to the town.

Shrimpers is a charming, cosy little cottage right in the centre of Southwold, with the famous lighthouse literally standing over the back yard. The facilities include most things you need and you are close to shops, pubs and the sights of Southwold. A complimentary bottle of wine always helps you feel welcome! Recommended overall, despite the minor gripes listed here.

The honesty and friendliness of the staff. This is a very affordable hotel with owners trying their very best to upgrade and improve facilities. It’s two star so you know what to expect but it absolutely meets expectations and is handy to access all that Southwold offers on foot.
