Dating back to 1510, Dalmunzie Castle Hotel lies in the south of the Cairngorms National Park. Attentive staff, friendly service, a wonderful location
Located in the Cairngorms National Park at the foot of Ben Gulabin hill, this guest accommodation is set in 1 and a half acres of land and has stunning views of the Glenshee Mountain. We loved our stay here. Amazing country to be staying in. The lodge was peaceful, comfortable and very clean. The manager Phil, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He would quickly check in morning and evening to see if we needed anything. The fire was always set each day and we had some lovely walks in and around this valley. It is a secluded spot, which is what we liked about it, so that may not appeal to all. The only reastaurant close by was at the Dalmunzie Hotel, a mile and a half away. We called in for drinks but did all our own cooking at the lodge in the well acquiped kitchen. Thanks Phil for a lovely stay.

The peace and quiet, stunning scenery, which was enhanced by the picturesque snow. We ate in the hotel, where the menus and food were very good It was easy to get around Glenshee on foot. Walking is a popular activity for all ages. Golf is available during summer mknths
Great opportunities for hillwalking and also for ski-ing in winter. We ate at our hotel, and also at Gordon's in Braemar and The Bothy in Braemar, and the cafe at the Glenshee Chairlift. In all these places there was a good selection of meals, cakes and scones etc. There is a very good outdoor shop attached to The Bothy in Braemar. We also visited Braemar Castle and used the Chairlift down from the Cairnwell. We saw deer, mountain hares, ptarmigan and also an Alpine Gentian on the hills. No eagles though.
Philip the owner was so friendly and welcoming. Great facilities everything you need. Even though hostel and shared facilities plenty of toilets, showers, kitchen and dinning facilities. Not sure about restaurants or pubs round about as took our own food and drink
An excellent place and location with a lovely wood fire. Highly recommended as Phil was very professional and helpful. They have activities such as clay pigeon shooting and fishing, if booked in advance. Will definitely be back next year.
Glenshee is a spectacular place at any time of the year. The scenery is stunning, the choice of activities is varied and interesting (cycling - road or mountain, walking, whisky and other outdoor stuff. The people are very friendly too.
Note: this review is based on a hiking trip that we took in the Summer. There really isn't very much in Glenshee, the road up to the ski slope from the Spittal or Braemar is nice enough, but there are nicer roads and nicer glens to see. For hiking, there are quite a few munros there, and with the ski centre, you can easily park and hike up to bag a couple of munros. The ski centre in general is fine, but nothing special, they don't run their chairlifts in the Summer so you will be walking up (although there is quite good 4x4 tracks up to the main peaks). All in all, I wouldn't really recommend visiting in the Summer, just isn't that much to do.

The property is beautiful and secluded with several outdoor activities available. The room was larger than expected and well furnished. The food was phenomenal.
