The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn offers an excellent location to explore some lovely coast. We managed to visit Whitby, Staithes and Runswick Bay, as hoped!
The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained, The family room was perfect for both us and our 7 year old. It exceeded our expectations. It was like new. The room and hotel has lots of character whilst being also being modern and stylish. There is a good communal space to relax in- for a drink and cake or evening meal. We did both!
If you are crazy golf fans like us, I would highly recommend trying out the one at the Jack and Jill Coaching Inn: it has18 holes, very well- maintained and some clever designs. This was a great bonus.

Fantastic view; generously sized rooms; clean; good facilities; well decorated; comfortable beds. Quiet location, even though it's on the edge of a busy golf course there was no intrusion.

Friendly, clean and comfortable country inn. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. Great breakfast and evening meals (good size portions) and without exception we were able to slightly change the side orders for our main meals. Really popular restaurant, especially Sunday Lunch, so I would suggest you book ahead. Plenty of car parking for both residents and visitors. Rooms are spacious and showers are powerful unless you prefer a luxurious bath as these are a good size too. We have been going to Ellerby for many years now and the quality just keeps improving. The owners have also kept improving the rooms and bathrooms which is a good sign of a properly managed business. Good disabled access and facilities. If you fancy taking a trip out to the surrounding bays and towns such as Whitby then the X4 coastal bus stops just outside the front door of the inn so access is perfect, especially if you like a shandy or two after your walk!
Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, The Firs Guest house is located at the top of the bank in Runswick Bay.

Mandy and her staff were exceptionally accommodating and very friendly. The location was beautifully quaint and we were able to sightsee the local seaside villages and towns very easily. I have food restrictions and Mandy was so gracious to offer alternative options for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again! Lovely people and lovely country!

Aran was an exceptional host, and we most heartily recommend a stay at the Tiger Inn. Aran and his staff were extremely attentive, considerate and helpful. He took time to talk with us about our travels and plans. The guest rooms are immaculate, new, and very we'll appointed. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. We'd gladly visit again!

The hill down to the beach was very steep and parking at the bottom was at a premium and limited to 40 minutes. but once down there the beach is lovely. The Captain Cook served great meals, plenty of choice and they allowed dogs in the bar.

very characterful, unique. Good pubs, coffee and ice creams, nice vibe. Beware though - no parking in village, up at the top of the hill an it is very steep. People with mobility issues will struggle. Easy for Cleveland Way path- lovely clifftop path, strenuous but not too much, wonderful views.

An absolutely charming and picturesque village.
An absolutely charming and picturesque village. Full of history and character. A treat for photographers and artists. There are lots of options for eating and drinking. There is a very steep hill down to the harbour and back, it may be difficult to manage for some people as there is no vehicular access for visitors.

It is a beautiful village with a maze of quaint meandering streets and lovely cottages. There are some nice walks up each of the cliffs. The views are spectacular.
The car park at the top of the village is where the majority of cars must be parked. To get there it is a very steep climb up a hill for around 400-500 metres. If you cottages says parking is included be careful, as usually this means in the car park at the top of the village up the hill, and not in the village itself.
To the nearest Supermarket (Co-op) it’s around 1km (up the hill, back to the main road and turn left)
Monday mornings in the village are a nightmare as guests try to load their cars and delivery drivers try to drop off
This cottage is in the best location, out of the way and quiet with the best views I've ever seen...but also only a short drive from the coast. The owner Mark was really helpful and even kind enough to show us around the other cottages before we left, I would happily stay in any of them, they're all beautiful and so cosy ☺️
Spotless, really nice decor, right in the middle of the Main Street, loads of the old traditional items dotted around. Everything worked as it should-had no issues with faulty equipment which is a bonus these days. Dog friendly!
We had a great stay at the Endeavour. Cameron was friendly and the breakfast was one of the best we've had at a hotel! We will definitely return and look forward seeing all of Cameron's plans come to fruition.
