Lovely small town. Friendly variety of shops. Easy to walk around. Good parking. Super area by the river to picnic or walk. Very clean and peaceful. Enjoyed fish and chips at the riverside restaurant.
Stamford is a charming market town teeming in history. It has a lively atmosphere and plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Shops cater for all tastes and include many indies - always a good sign. Walkers Bookshop and Country Traditionals Polish Pottery two of my favourites. There's a stunning 2nd hand bookshop - St Mary's - near the river on the way to the fabulous old George Hotel. Parking is reasonably priced. A few of the pavements are narrow but the centre itself is paved and accessible for pushchairs/wheelchair users.
Super little gem of a town particularly if you like Heritage and history, the local Civic group have done Sterling work making it easy to access info through boards and leaflets - we called into the library and got walks leaflets,
It is a lovely little town with some beautiful buildings and some quaint little shops. Call in at the Tourist Information Office and pick up a Town Trail which will point out all the places of interest.
Lovely historic town with beautiful buildings. My visit was very last minute and had problems getting booked due to being a very busy weekend in the town. The hotel I stayed at was not the best a room above a pub but I should have know better. Had booked for two nights but was so disappointed with cleanliness and state of room I did not stay the second night.
Stamford is a lovely Georgian market town with superb architecture. There are lots of restaurants for every budget - we went high end with a meal in the Oak Room of the George, an old coaching inn. Lovely evening ambience, very formal French service, a good menu. The town is quite compact, so it's easy to get around, and maps are available from the tourist office in the arts centre (the old Assembly Rooms, check out the ballroom!) A highlight for us was St Martin's Antiques Centre, always good for a rummage and a bargain.

I've stayed in lots of bed and breakfast places over the years, and thanks to patience who owns this fabulous Georgian house smack bang in the middle of Stamford, it by a long way the best bed and breakfast we've ever stayed in, and if we are that way ever again I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The house is stunning as was the room, service, and breakfast, patience you need to be very proud, thankyou for a lovely stay in your lovely home. Peter and Lindsay xx

We had an excellent night's sleep after catching up with friends on a brief stop in Stamford. The apartment couldn't be in a better location. Were really impressed with the apartment and think the photos don't do it justice. We would absolutely book again.
