Stirling is in a lovely setting and of course steeped in history. Stirling Castle is well worth the climb and please do have a tour guide; their knowledge and stories bring the castle to life. Also visit the nearby Church of the Holy Rude, so entwined with the the history of the Castle too.
I can highly recommend dinner at the King Robert Hotel in Bannockburn after you’ve see the statue to Robert the Bruce.

Though I'd been here several times I'd never found time to explore the old town, which is well worth doing - it's a fine city with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. A tour of the old jail was entertaining and informative. The castle is impressive from the outside but I baulked at the £20 entrance fee.

A small city with lots to do - Stirling Castle tour is so much more comprehensive than Edinburgh castle. And other attractions as well to see and plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and bars and so walkable. We really enjoyed Stirling. Try the Stirling Distillery too.

Lots to see and do in stirling , we could of easily stayed more than 3 days, but we managed to do the kelpies, the roman walk & antonines wall, falkirk wheel and blackness castle all in one day! What a beautiful historic place 😍 and most places are dog friendly!

Golden Lion Hotel was very centrally located within walking distance of Stirling Castle, Old Jail and Church of the Holy Rood but there was also a bus stop immediately opposite hotel for Castle etc.
Battle of Bannockburn memorial is also easily accessible and has excellent Bannockburn Experience attraction.
Staff was very kind, breakfast was good, location of the hotel is very good at the centre of Stirling. Lots of pubs just a few meters away. I was traveling with my wife and 2 friends. We booked the "Two-Bedroom Apartment". The apartement was quite spacious with 2 rooms with double beds, a kitchen with all the needed appliances and a washing machine and there was a big living room with a diner table. It is a very good option if you intend to stay several days in Stirling.
The room was comfortable and spacious , if somewhat far away from entrance! The bathroom was large and well appointed. The hotel is well placed in the historic area of Stirling and the parking is an extra bonus. The hill from the town centre is quite steep but as you notice the various historic buildings and the views , you do not notice the incline.
Location of the hotel was excellent. situated in the middle of Stirling. Castle approximately 20 minute walk and shopping centre a 5 minute walk away. Some decent bar/restaurants near as well. Hotel brilliantly clean with nice atmosphere on first 2 floors.
couldn’t fault anything with the stay, the room was fantastic as was the food and the staff. would recommend and would definitely stay again. location is perfect for getting around as it’s a quiet area but a very short walk to the city centre/castle.
The central yet private and quiet location
The comfort and quality of the furniture
The quality of kitchen appliances/utensils etc.
The beds were especially comfy
Easy access to castle, countryside and Stirling city centre.
