The Golden Lion Hotel has welcomed guests, including royalty, for more than 200 years.

The room was nice and clean, with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom, and very quiet at night despite having a window on one of the main streets. The staff was nice and welcoming; we had been warned that the parking might be full but it was quite large and with more than enough space for our car. The location is superb - right on one of the main streets where you can walk anywhere and choose within a large range of pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops. The walk to the castle is about 10 min or less uphill; it's 5 min away from the train station.

Plenty to see and do with an abundance of coffee shops and quirky shops as well as all the usual high St shops. Lovely balance between the old and the new. We'll thought out transport hub so easy to access by bus and train.

Stirling has a lot to offer.

Stirling has a lot to offer. So much history and so many places of interest to offer. Some of these are free. The hostel is next door to the Old Jail, an excellent visitor attraction, which also offers ghost walking tours of Stirling! The castle is 5 minutes walk up the hill. (Historic Environment Scotland). It is easy to walk around Stirling, and since there is a university in Stirling, it offers a lot of variety to accommodate affordability. Stirling can be easily accessed by train or bus or car. It has an excellent public transport system, but the city centre is easy enough to walk around. You do not need a car to get around the town.

Fantastic city with so much history!

Fantastic city with so much history! The castle is a must see and will take up half a day easily….the guides are very informative and very funny to listen to. The city centre has a very good mix of shops with a decent sized indoor shopping centre which has tie odd extra of an underground structure which was originally a medieval tower. Worth 5 minutes of your time to explore. Food…lots of restaurants to choose from but finding somewhere that serves haggis is VERY hard indeed.

The two attractions we visited were the National Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle. In different ways, each place was able to present a lot of history in an interesting way. If you want to understand the "spirit" of Scotland, Stirling is a must visit.

I booked with Springfields lodge as the hotel I originally booked with cancelled our booking. I was fortunate to come across springfield Lodge which was nearer to where our family lived. The location was perfect with Wallace monument less than a mile away and the city centre of Stirling approximately 2 miles away with the historic Stirling Castle to explore. Both Kevin and Kim were the perfect host, very friendly making sure our stay with them was relaxing, and sharing their local knowledge of where to visit or dine out.

The location was perfect for what we wanted to see (Stirling Castle and surrounding area). It was within walking distance of all the "tourist" shops and many historic sites. It was also a great value for the location. I looked at a couple of other hotels in the immediate area and they were more expensive. A couple of other small things I liked were the car park right behind the hotel (for guests only), the breakfast, and the spacious bathroom with the amazing towel warmer. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Tastefully decorated, comfy & well equipped self catering accommodation for a family of four including picnic table on veranda & lovely views of fields full of horses outside. Great facilities including washing machine, clothes horse etc. Also lots of activities on site: children's play areas & giant bouncing pillow, horse riding, fishing etc. Also close to Stirling, great for visiting Stirling Castle & also the Falkirk Wheel & the Kelpies sculpture in Falkirk.

The owner is so welcoming and obviously a superbly experienced host. From tea and biscuits served in the huge lounge (great views across the garden) on our arrival to homemade bread at breakfast. The latter was fabulous and so much choice. Laura was able to give us maps and information about the area and was very warm. 15 mins walk to town. The room was gorgeous with a small outdoor terrace. Free parking. An absolute must if you stay in Stirling.

This is a nice property in a good location within walking distance of the sights, I.e,Stirling Castle. The apartment was clean and spacious. It had a common kitchen, sitting area, and laundry facilities. The hosts reached out to us with clear check in procedures and checked in to make sure all was well. The apartment was also very reasonable.

Lovely guest house in the city centre. It is typical British shabby chic, so don’t expect the Sheridan hotel, but it was absolutely perfect for our need and would always book again. The breakfast cheap and yummy, the kids liked it. Staff very friendly and helpful. There was plenty coffee and tea and toiletries available
