One word Adam, we stayed there for the first time and we met Adam! Second tome we stayed was because of Adam! I live in California and visit Sunderland quite often at least three times a year because I actually grow up in Southwick very near to Castletown where the Magnam is located. We have traveled and lived in a lot of different places and countries around the World and we have never met any who is so dedicated to his job. We will always stay at the Magnam as long as Adam is working there. We actually sent a card to Adam thanking him for how welcome and comfortable he made us feel.

    Well known as the greatest city in the UK, the people are wonderful and we were there on a sunny day so the seafront was amazing and the local dolphin pod we saw in the harbour seemed to agree. Would recommend sunderland to everyone

    Surprisingly not an apocalyptic post-industrial wasteland... the football fans and the people generally are some of the friendliest I have met in my travels around the UK. Ended up walking back across the city to my hotel as the taxis were all busy, quite enjoyed it - even heard owls somewhere down by the river. Local takeaways very reasonably priced and generous with their portions!

    We went fir the women's World rugby match so saw little if the town. Oldest Saxondale church nearby you can spot seals and dolphin from the pier end if the seafront in the early morning. The local beach area was litter free.

    Close to local park and beach . Good bus and metro service nearby. Beautiful beach and lovely city which has a lot of activities around the city. Lots of bars restaurants and coffee shops. Fun time for everyone.

    I was in Sunderland for a conference so saw very little of Sunderland. It was a nice surprise to come across a concert for Pride on a break in the conference. I don't know how much there is to do in Sunderland so it might be better to combine it with a trip to Newcastle. Sunderland do have a decent football stadium, though. That's my usual reason for visiting.

    The National Glass Centre is well worth a visit; so is is the museum in the city centre. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on trying to revive the city, and it has some beautiful 19th century buildings, but like everywhere it has suffered from the decline of city centre retailing, and nobody has yet come up with a clear idea what to do about it. Looking for somewhere to eat in Sunderland is a bit of a challenge: it's Greggs, Greggs, McDonalds and Greggs. But overall, it was better than expected.

    The hotel is in a good location, close to the Stadium of Light football ground. I had to visit family at short notice and the hotel is very convenient for where they live in Sunderland. The facilities are good and the staff were great. I had to cancel my second night at the hotel as my plans changed at the last minute but the reception staff were great and very understanding and gave me a partial refund for my cancelled second night.

    We had the intention of staying at the hotel because of its location to secure parking and the venue we were visiting in the evening. The rooms were very clean and suitably equipped for our overnight needs. I would definitely stay again should the need arise to visit Sunderland.

    We had a comfortable, good sized room overlooking the river, and the hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was available in the kitchen area. or you could sit out on the patio. The free parking was useful and it was a short walk into the city centre.
