I adore going to spas and often pay for spa packages at big chains. I much preferred this for privacy and not being rushed with a 1 hour allocation, common in many big spas. The suite is in a small village but easy to get to by car and there's a bus stop around the corner. All rooms are on first floor level so easy to get around. We loved the cocktail bar area outside the thermal suite with beautiful glasses to use as we are big wine drinkers. The thermal suite is in a separate room adjacent to this and has all equipment together. We liked the steam room room in particular and being able to use the cleansers and toners there before going into the steam room. There is a small kitchen for making food so bring stuff you can stick in the oven or microwave. That kitchen has a wine fridge as well. The bedroom was great for lounging with a big TV opposite the bed so we paid for late checkout and had a chilled morning after to nurse our hangovers - too much champagne in that hot tub. The room overlooks the garden area to rear which has a hot tub and BBQ hut. We are intending to book the bigger venue for a birthday celebration as it looks ideal for large groups.

The breakfast was generous, tasty, beautifully cooked and included quality ingredients. The room was plush and very clean and the ensuite had a large shower area. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and responsibly highlighted the emergency exit when we first arrived.

    small town with not a lot to do or see but good as a central base location for travelling around the Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire. Both Dumfries house and drumlanrig castle are within an easy drive and very good road conditions on most occasions. Ate in the black bull hotel and found good tasty food at a good price

    Staff were friendly, breakfast was nice. The rooms were small and bathroom really small. No wardrobe The view from our bedroom was poor. The pictures that I saw online did not reflect the actual hotel. It really is more like a bed and breakfast or a basic inn. The local beach and tourist attractions were lovely. Easy to get around by car.

    It is a very small village but a good base for visiting...

    It is a very small village but a good base for visiting Coastal areas and National Trust parks, Islands of Arran and Cumbrea, all within 15-25 miles away from the property. A selection of quality restaurants and pubs serving food just 15-30 minutes away. Would recommend visits to both the Islands mentioned and coastal towns. If you love steak and have a BIG appetite, the Sorn Inn is the place to go. Check prices before you visit. The Failford Inn have a good selection of dishes to suit most tastes at a more affordable price. Easy to get around as roads are quiet. Some are winding so take more care and don’t drive at the maximum 60mph on these roads.
