This was such a fantastic place to stay while we were in Shetland for Wool Week. David, our host, was extremely attentive and made sure we were right at home, showing us the place, asking what time was best for breakfast, and ensuring that the other guests (builders) were quiet while we were there. It is about 10 or 15 minutes outside Lerwick and the views were just absolutely stunning.

The bed was comfortable. I loved talking a bath in a deep bathtub after a long day of exploring. Breakfast was tasty in the lovely dining room. Many options, including hot food from the kitchen, and the day was always started off right. The visitor center is just down the lane and a bus stop is a block away. Very convenient.

This hostel was excellent, great value for money, very clean, all required facilities. Above all the manager was so friendly and helpful - what a difference that makes to a stay. Would highly recommend to families looking for reasonably priced, spacious and clean accomodation in Lerwick. We have a three year old and she loved it, excellent park and swimming pool nearby.

Midgarth was extremely clean. Everything seemed brand new. The apartment was thoughtfully put together and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable! Kim accommodated a special request for us, that was very much appreciated.

If Norlande was a Hollywood movie, I would say it had the highest production values! Amanda's communication was excellent, which I valued during a very erratic journey to Shetland for a funeral. The room was beautifully decorated and had everything I needed. It was a well positioned room, with a great bathroom and facilities, especially the monsoon shower with built-in radio. The bed was so comfortable, better than any of the big brand places, and I slept so well. The breakfast hamper was a delight and had more than enough supplies and snacks, which kept me going at breakfast and even at night at the end of a long day. The location is just 8 mins walk from Commercial Street and the main strip with its bars, restaurants for lunch and dinner, and for the shops too The Isleburgh Community Centre, Town Hall, and new library are all a short walk away. A taxi from the ferry to Norlande cost £4.50 with Allied Taxi (book ahead!), or you could walk in 15 mins on a drier day - they DO happen 😆 Amanda herself is very hospitable and welcoming. I would recommend Norlande any day.
