A beautifully presented family-run B & B that gives you all the privacy you want or engagement with other travelers in the well-appointed common areas. Funnily enough, they get quite a few bookings and then cancellations from Australian travelers who mistakenly think they were booking for Torquay, Victoria, Australia rather than on the Devon Coast, UK. The family is delightful with dad being an excellent chef (breakfast eggs benedict was cooked perfectly), mum was so hospitable with great directions and suggestions with our walk to the harbor front and dinner, and the daughter who looked after us with checking in and at breakfast was just a breath of fresh air (good luck with your uni studies). I would definitely stay there again but this time for a few more days so we could take advantage of that inviting-looking swimming pool.

Some great opportunities for swimming and kayaking with photography. Surprised to see seals at Thatcher Rock. My hotel - the Water's Edge on the sea front is walking distance from many restaurants on the sea front. Hiring kayaks easy from Abbey Sands.

Torquay harbour is delightful, all around there is a great choice of places to eat , the walk about by the theatre and yachts' is very pleasant. Unfortunately like most towns the high street is lacking and is sad to see however there are some lovely beaches nearby and trips across the bay are available. Cockington, Brixham and Babbacombe are all within a thirty minute bus ride away.

My view of Torquay very nice easy to travel by bus nice and cheap. Plenty of places to eat at. You a find a lot of food if you don’t want fish and chips. The prices are not bad. Very pretty in the night time all the lights come on around the seafront. I would recommend taking a look around at night. Around 7pm.

    1. Beautiful Beaches:

    1. Beautiful Beaches: Torre Abbey Sands, Meadfoot Beach, and Oddicombe Beach offer clean sands, calm waters, and scenic views — perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or coastal walks. 2. Great for Adults and Couples: With adult-only accommodations like Crowndale Torquay, it’s ideal for a peaceful getaway without the hustle and bustle of family resorts. 3. Attractions & Activities: From the historic Torre Abbey and the Agatha Christie Mile to boat trips, coastal hikes, and the English Riviera Wheel, there’s plenty to explore. 4. Walkable and Well-Connected: The town is compact and easy to get around, with good public transport links to nearby towns like Paignton and Brixham. 5. Dining & Local Charm: A variety of restaurants, cafés, and pubs offer everything from fresh seafood to cream teas, all with that classic Devon hospitality. - A Few Things to Keep in Mind 1. Parking can be limited in peak season, so plan ahead or use public transport where possible. 2. Some areas can feel a bit dated, but that’s part of its nostalgic British seaside charm.

Our 1st time in Torquay we visited in August.

Our 1st time in Torquay we visited in August. The place was not overcrowded at all and very pleasant. Loved the harbour and all the restaurants and bars. Plenty to chose from. The beach is massive with plenty of room for ball games and sunbathing. Lots of paddleboards around at sea and loved seeing the odd cruise ship pull up for the day. We visited Paignton to go to the circus and also visited the pier their where they have a very long amusement park inside. Babbacombe we visited several times and is only a 10min car journey away but so lovely and they have 2 amazing beaches in little coves. Steep climb down but worth it. Both beaches are accessible to each other on foot following the coastal path and a cliff railway to take you back upto the cliff tops. Kents caves were a real treat and all enjoyed our guided tour of the magnificent caves.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was ideally located and in easy reach of lovely restaurants and the beach. We were more than pleased with our room. We had a wonderful view of the sea. My husband said he could sit there all day just watching the sea and the people. The shower was lovely and easy to use. The food was good and very reasonable priced. If ever we return to Torquay I would certainly stay there again and ask for the same room.

Myself and my partner came to Torquay for my birthday and the staff had helped to set up the room with decorations which made it so special! The room was a good size and had a lovely see view, and was cleaned daily. We ordered breakfast room service on the last morning which was really nice and good value. The interior of the hotel was beautiful and the staff were very friendly.

We're quickly becoming regulars to this charming little hotel, always clean and welcoming with amazing communication from the owners. It's a lovely central location, nice and close to the beach, with lots of shops and takeaways nearby, and great dog walking parks as well. I'm sure we'll continue to use the hotel as one of the best dog friendly stays in Torquay.
