The room was absolutely spectacular, well stocked with teas and coffees and toiletries, the bathroom was so impressively nice, so much larger than I anticipated! The staff was absolutely the kindest, most helpful and attentive hotel staff I’ve ever encountered. The location was lovely and the restaurant delicious. I have absolutely no complaints :)

The Hollies is a beautiful house full of character, beautifully decorated with fabulous (in our view) art, a lovely sitting area downstairs and the two guest bedrooms at the top of the house. We stayed in the King bedroom which was spacious, beautifully furnished, incredibly quiet and had an excellent shower in the en-suite. Debbie - the host - couldn’t have done more for us. She gave us a lovely welcome and we sat down with a cup of tea to chat about breakfast and anything we needed to know about the gorgeous little town of Uppingham. We’d booked a table at The Lake Isle restaurant and had a very good meal there. Breakfast at The Hollies was like everything else about it - excellent. Ranging from homemade granola, fruit and yoghurt to a delicious (my husband testified) full English! I don’t eat meat and was offered smoked salmon, eggs, etc. It was one of the best B & B’s we have ever stayed in (and we have experienced many)! Thank you Debbie for a very lovely stay!

Everything was amazing from the staff that went above and beyond to meet needs and accommodations. Breakfast was included in the price which was a big plus. Very delicious and well made. The location is perfect as well, close to everything. Laura was over the top amazing. I rented a car and didn’t know my way around with the road signs or driving on the opposite side of the road. She was kind enough to let me look over at her daughter’s driving manual which helped alot. She went above and beyond

Peaceful location, lovely courtyard room with everything needed, including a very comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast and excellent evening meal on the day we chose to eat there. It was nice staying next to the bar - we could have a drink in the evening without worrying about who was going to drive. We're not golfers, but learned a bit about the sport while we were there! Also was great to be so close to the Nature Reserve and able to walk around Rutland Water.

Despite being the busiest weekend of their year (the “Nev” was base for the Easter Sunday/Monday bottle kicking event), staff was very helpful and friendly (even loaned us an umbrella for a day!), dinner and breakfast was great, everything was clean, and we were pleasantly surprised at how little noise we heard after 10pm despite the bar full of people downstairs (2 sets of fire doors upstairs helped). Large bathroom, plenty of space in bedroom, and comfy bed. The outdoor garden and seating was lovely and inviting, even when it drizzled.

    redwings morcott is a budget solution 2 x villages east of the bigger uppingham town but the location is excellent for visiting rutland water and the lovely stamford and burghley house...theres a big choice of good village pubs for eating out at v short distance....

    The location of our accommodation meant we were able to visit several places in Rutland - as well as just on the outskirts - including Stamford, Uppingham, Oakham (and Melton Mowbray on our return home!) Uppingham itself is a small market type town with some interesting independent shops and pubs. Worth a visit for a little mooch around but you don't need too long to walk around the centre/main streets.

    Rutland has been aptly described as 'the Cotswolds without...

    Rutland has been aptly described as 'the Cotswolds without the crowds'. The scenery is lovely and villages picturesque. The roads are relatively quiet and we had no difficulty parking in the summer holidays. We spent a pleasant afternoon at Rutland water, which even has it's own beach, with lifeguards.

    Centrally placed for National Trust, English Heritage and Historic Houses properties, with equally attractive towns and villages nearby. The Lake Isle restaurant and Don Paddys Bistro are both excellent places to eat, and we would happily eat there again on our next visit.

Excellent location for the dog show A great Indian restaurant next door A real bath and lovely towels Lots of space It was also very quiet Open 24hours so great on the night we arrived fairly late It’s not a smart 5* hotel but value for money and had everything we needed I would happily return

    Uppingham is a really pretty town with a nice range of shops...

    Uppingham is a really pretty town with a nice range of shops and restaurants. HIghly recommend staying at The Crown pub and visiting the world-famous Goldmark Art Gallery. The art and ceramics are fantastic and the staff are very welcoming. In fact everyone we met in Uppingham was really friendly! If you want to go for a walk / bird watching- Rutland Water is nearby. Oakham is also nice to visit - especially the museum.

    The welcome, warmth and friendliness of Debbie the host is unsurpassable. from the moment we arrived until our departure we were treated like long lost friends. The location in the charming town of Uppingham was used as a stopover on our journey North, but we have bookmarked it as a destination to use as a base for future visits to the area. Well done Debbie, you have ticked ALL the boxes when it comes to hospitality and quality of stay, and your standards are superb.

    The room was spacious and had a kettle with coffee, tea etc. The hotel reception staff (both day and night) were really friendly and helpful with great customer service skills. There’s a little cafe next door which had great, reasonably priced food with lovely staff awful. The bed sheets and towels were really great quality and the place as a whole was clean. They were great with our large breed dog too!

    Very friendly staff who were accommodating showing me to my room. Room was very nice and a good size. Everything seemed to a good standard. There was parking out front of the hotel at the time I arrived but had to move it before 9am the following day.
