We have stayed at willow house before the staff as always friendly and helpful they always make our stay great, would recommend to family and friends as it has character and quiet and very relaxing stay. Would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Willow house for making us feel welcome and go out their way seeing we have what we need during stay
The High Street has a good selection of shops, - not full of charity shops like so many other Norfolk towns, a great little museum in the town hall, there are a couple of pubs, parking on the main road outside the shops was easy and free, there is a fair bit of history in the town, check out the 340 year old clock tower building... visit the site of the old airfield and memorial, then maybe use Watton as a base to set out from to visit the nearby towns of Swaffham, Dereham and maybe even Norwich.
We went to this location to make a "sentimental journey" back to my husbands mother's roots. He also went to school here for a brief time when he was 8 years old. The little museum was charming & answered many of our questions about the area. One of the docents there, George, was happy to provide us with additional information. There's not much here for the tourist to buy but there is an incredible and fascinating antique clock store in the center of town. The owner here was also happy to share his knowledge & history of the area. The town was much as my husband remembered and the people were friendly and welcoming.
only stayed in watton as we were attending a funeral in Norwich. local pubs were very nice. the weather was dreadful 15cm of snow so getting around extremely difficult. however I would imagine the surrounding area good for country walks etc. the bell (local.pub) extremely friendly with good food.
Watton
The heating...despite their being a large radiator in the bedroom and a tall one in the en suite shower room neither was functioning during our stay. There was a free standing oil filled radiator at one end of the bedroom which did push out a lot of heat. The bathroom was very cold. The system for getting a cooked breakfast is a bit odd and convoluted. All emails from the hotel are terribly long winded. No decaffeinated tea or coffee provided. No sweeteners, only sugar.
Watton
The location was great, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The Apartment was better than we thought. such a great outlook onto the course and provides easy access to other Norfolk amenities.
