The hotel is so warm and inviting. We stay in the cathedral suite and the bed is super comfy, the shower is fantastically powerful and the facilities in general are great. Also the staff are so friendly and helpful and are always available for anything you need.

Myself and my partner had a lovely stay at Crossways. The room was immaculate, and the staff were friendly and professional. Everything in this hotel is done to a pristine finish, I would recommended the four poster deluxe room, defiantly worth the extra space and amazing bathroom! Its a little bit out the way, but perfect for switching off. Will definitely be back when I'm heading that way.

Beautiful small city and the loveliest cathedral I have seen in the U.K. The Bishops palace was very attractive, and the garden with cathedral views was to die for. We visited in November so it was quiet which added to the magical and historical feeling of the place.

Unfortunately our visit was all too short, we really enjoyed attending a service at the Cathedral and meeting some loval people afterwards. A light lunch at The Loft (adjoining the Cathedral) and a short walk around were all we had time for. We shall definitely return!

Wells is a beautiful city with the centre retaining much of its historical character. The cathedral and Bishops Palace are worth visiting as is strolling around the streets and lanes of the town centre. A little further afield are Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury and the north Somerset coast all making for a great day out.

The location was excellent for exploring Wells. It is right across the road from the Cathedral and Bishops Palace plus a short walk to the Market Square. The historic hotel is full of nooks and crannies and you can imagine what it must have been like in its heyday. Right across the board, the staff were friendly and helpful. From a transport perspective, the bus station is fairly close by, with a good service and routes to Bath, Bristol, Taunton and Glastonbury.
The staff were all lovely very friendly and helpful. The dinner & breakfast were really good and the Bistrot had a really nice buzzy atmosphere. Obviously it is an old property and a bit higgledy piggledy but that added to its charm. It was so nice being on the market square and added to the Christmas atmosphere. Our favourite stay in Wells out of 3 hotels we have stayed in. We over slept as the beds (bouncy) were so comfortable.
The room was amazing. We needed a rest and relax and as soon as we got into the room we were 100% relaxed.
Wonderful bedding and bed. Slept very well.
The staff were all friendly with an amazing choice of ales and ciders. Breakfast was beautifully cooked.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Wells.
Everything you could think of was provided. It was a beautiful apartment right in the centre of Wells. It was spacious with lots of personal touches which made it very comfortable. My sister and I often stay at The Swan Hotel in Wells but this apartment will now be our first go to when booking further trips to Wells.
The Ancient Gatehouse is in a great location and we were blown away by the superb Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel and the ability to enjoy the food and wine while looking straight across the cathedral green to Wells Cathedral. It was magical. All the staff were really friendly and engaging.
