The 5-star Mickley Bed and Breakfast is set in the quiet village of Mickley, 5.8 miles from Ripon and 3.5 miles from Lightwater Valley Theme Park. Mickley B&B surpassed all the other places where we stayed during our trip to England, for the quality of the meticulously furnished accommodation and the warmth of the welcome we received from the friendly and highly capable hostess, Libs Brownlow. She had thought of every detail to make our stay pleasant: fresh flowers from the garden placed in the room, chocolates on the pillows, towelling bathrobes, adapters for overseas appliances to name just a few. The richly coloured Amber Suite enveloped us in warmth after a day of sightseeing, and its private sitting room gave us space to spread out our maps. Liz also helped us in many small ways, giving us advice about restaurants and making local inquiries on our behalf. We enjoyed her intelligent conversation too.

Camp Kátur Glamping is set in Camp Hill estate, within 250 acres in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. Breakfast was chargeable but a plenty of choice, we went for the Full English which uses locally grown meat-high quality stuff! It's a huge site with plenty of space and lots of different accommodation types. There's also plenty of Olay area space for kids (and a huge wooden castle). Having a pub/restaurant on site with a choice of real ales was good. Staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
