Visit the whalley abbey nice for afternoon visit . Close to Clitheroe centre with a variety of shops, bars restaurants ( Holmes Mill worth a visit) easy access by train every hour from Whalley station. Whalley is great for Food lovers ,Whalley has 3 typical public houses- The Dog Inn, The DeLacey and the Swan (which is also a hotel ) ,has I wine /cocktail bar ( The Forum) a bar /gin house ( Jacks) & a sports style bar ( Bradys ).The Swan, Forum & Bradys all serve food most of the day /evening .The Dog Inn is very traditional serving great home cooked food until 2pm only. Forum is highly recommended you will have to book . There is also a local run wine shop which you can sit inside or out and drink wine at your leisure :) (for a corkage fee). Local delicatessen and some quirky shops- you can spend a few hours musing at the clothes shops, antique shop etc.. & 3 cafes all serving great food. There is a fish & chip/Cantonese shop/ 1 Chinese takeaway, 2 Italian restaurants and 1 Indian restaurant . It also has a night club ( RIOS) Whalley is 3 miles to Mitton Hall hotel & restaurant , 3miles to Northcote restaurant & Hotel (* Michelin starred, expensive but amazing for a treat ) , & close by is Mytton Fold hotel and the Fold restaurant which serves hot stone steaks- 2 miles to Foxfields Hotel which is currently being refurbished to include an artisan restaurant . 2 miles to Freemasons restaurant in Wiswell. 2 miles to the Eagle pub & restaurant in Barrow only a bus ride away ( Buses every 20min) Whalley golf club is also worth a visit and a round of golf .
