Whitby is a great place for a short or longer break. It is interesting historically and full of character. Plenty to see and do, quirky shops as well as the usual ones, and a good choice of cafes and restaurants - it's impossible to get bad seafood in Whitby! The surrounding countryside is stunning, with gorgeous bays only a few miles away. From the harbour side to the outskirts Whitby is well worth a visit.
Whitby is a great place to stay and explore the town and surrounding areas such as Malton, Pickering, North Yorkshire Moors etc. There are a good range of restaurants, pubs and shops. There are great walks including the Cinder Track which starts at Whitby and goes for 21 miles to Scarborough, there is the coastal paths and also some other lovely walks just inland which have waterfalls and are very scenic. We also went to Castle Howard which is a beautiful stately home about 45 minutes away on the road to York and well worth a visit.
Very much like Cornwall, and if you want quaint and plenty to do in the time you are there, then Whitby has it all. Plenty of bars, restaurants and entertainment in the evenings. Food was amazing and the fish is out of this world wherever you choose to eat it. The historical side is second to none and there is plenty to suit everyone.
WHITBY IS VERY INTERESTING AND VARIED IN FACILITIES. WE HAVE VISITED REGULARLY FOR MANY YEARS AND ENJOYED, BUT RECENTLY FIND THAT THE TOWN IS TOO BUSY (OVERCROWDED IS ANOTHER WORD) WITH DAY TRIPPERS EVEN IN WINTER MONTHS. THE PRICES IN CAFES, RSTAURANTS AND BARS IS OFTEN TOO HIGH FOR VALUE, AND ACCOMMODATION PRICE LEVELS ARE PURELY EXTORNIONATE FOR WHAT THEY OFFER - BUT THAT IS DOWN TO PERSONAL CHOICE ; MAYBE THAT'S THE REASON PEOPLE VISIT FOR A DAY INSTEAD OF STAYING OVER ?
Plenty to see and places to visit. We went to Captain James Cook`s museum which was very interesting. Of course no one should miss a visit to Whitby Abbey. Lots of places to eat, and interesting shops.
Whitby is our favourite place and we try to visit every year! There is so much to see and so. We love the beaches and the piers. We always wander up to the abbey and try to go on a ghost walk if we can. There are lots of great restaurants to eat (monks haven for breakfast and papas for lunch!)
Whitby
The location of the apartment was ideal for exploring Whitby, a mere few hundred yards from the harbour so it was ideal for us. The quality and cleanliness of the decor and furnishings was of an extremely high standard and just to our taste. There was also plenty of extra helpful touches such as cleaning products and a utility room. It was a very relaxing place to stay - a home from home! We plan to visit again soon.
Whitby
The property is situated very close to all amenities. On street parking was available and scratch cards provided at the property to enable zoned parking. The house was very clean and comfortable which made a lovely base to relax in after a busy day out exploring Whitby. There are lots of stairs within the property which wasn’t an issue for our family but something to consider if you struggle with stairs.
Beautiful apartment with original wooden floors sash bay windows and plenty of space for 4 adults and a couple of little dogs, host even left some milk, tea and coffee for our arrival. Parking is a bit of a nightmare expected really in a busy seaside resort with parking restrictions, but there is plenty of space a 10 min walk away. Would 100% stay again if I was in whitby thank you
