Shops and entertainment venues were closed due to Covid. But there is always something to see in Whitby. We discovered a cliff top walk that we had missed on previous visits that was most enjoyable especially as the sea was very rough.
I loved our stay in Whitby. The town and the walk and the weather. The proximity to the Robin Hood's Bay was amazing. The night walk to the Whitby Abbey was one of a kind of experience. I am definitely returning in Summer.
we have been going to whitby since 2008 both driving down and public transport, we love whitby for its laid back welcoming atmosphere and also the local heritage and would recommend a trip to whitby to anybody.
Great fishing port ,two sides to Whitby. The new side and the old side .Amusement arcades on the new .Cross the swing beige to the old side and it's a step back in time.Go and see the old kipper smoking shed .kippers also for sale in the shop ...........never changed for year's and year's . Take a trip out to sea in one of the pleasure boats . Loads to see well worth a visit.
too expensive and not good value for money was like a cattle market too many diferant prices for the same products food especialy over priced and of poor quality parking prices extortionate not a pleasant stay will not go again have gone for many years now but no more
Whitby is one of my favorite places in the UK. The drive across the moors and the Abbey by moonlight, on Halloween, with a full moon. Doesn't get any better than that. Ex-pat American, I have been there a bunch of times in my 25 years, but would recommend this to anyone, especially my fellow Americans: this is a charming seaside town with a bit of magic and mystery, plus the Dracula connection if you are a bit of a Drac fan. Lots of good places to eat, fish and chips galore - but you must eat them out of a cardboard box by the water if you can. We hiked the Cleveland Way to Robin Hood's Bay. Not for the unfit and it was a muddy mess but makes a good story. If it had been dry underfoot, it would have been great. The views are spectacular.
Whitby
Our room was wonderful! It was at the top of a beautiful home, high on the hill overlooking the harbor. Two minutes' walk from the station (and the Station Inn, a fantastic pub, and Trenchers, best fish and chips we've ever had). The very best part of our stay were our hosts, Ted and Sandra, the loveliest people we met on our honeymoon. They were generous with their time and advice, and their delicious breakfasts sustained us through long days of sightseeing. We'll never forget our time at Captains Cabin. Thanks so much, Ted and Sandra!

Perfect for us---the room was lovely, immaculate and had an amazing view. The proprietor s were friendly, helpful and professional. The location suited us well, within easy walking distance of the town but far enough removed to be peaceful and quiet. I highly recommend it.
